DANGERS OF REJECTING THE LIGHT

DANGERS OF REJECTING THE LIGHT

Text: Romans 1:21–22

21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

DANGERS OF REJECTING THE LIGHT

Memory verse: Proverbs 29:1 He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

In John 3:19–20 Jesus said: “This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed.”

Rejecting the light of God is one of the greatest dangers you can face. The tragedy is not that light is absent but that many deliberately turn away from it. Light exposes, heals, guides, and saves, but those who cling to darkness do so because they prefer sin, deception, or self-comfort over the truth.

To reject God’s light is to choose spiritual blindness. A blindfolded traveller may hear of a safe path but will stumble endlessly if he refuses to open his eyes. In the same way, rejecting Christ’s light leads to wasted destiny, frustration, and endless cycles of defeat. Many attend religious gatherings, hear Scripture, and even engage in rituals, yet without the light of revelation, all these remain lifeless practices that brings no transformation.

Eternal danger also awaits. Without light, life has no true meaning, and the soul remains separated from God both now and forever. Darkness cannot produce joy, hope, or direction, it only multiplies despair. To reject light is to embrace emptiness.

But there is hope. The same Christ who declared Himself “the Light of the World” in John 8:12 still shines today. Those who repent and embrace His light will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life. The key is humility, acknowledging the need for light, stepping out of secrecy, and allowing God’s truth to transform the heart.

Rejecting the light leads to destruction, but embracing it opens the door to salvation, destiny, and eternal glory.

COVENANT GATE HYMNALS 29: SS&S 642: WHEN WE WALK WITH THE LORD

  1. When we walk with the Lord in the light of his Word
What a glory he sheds on our way
While we do his good will, he abides with us still
And with all who will trust and obeyTrust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey

  1. Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies
But his smile quickly drives it away
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh nor a tear
Can abide while we trust and obey

  1. Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share
But our toil he doth richly repay
Not a grief nor a loss, not a frown or a cross
But is blest if we trust and obey

  1. But we never can prove the delights of his love
Until all on the altar we lay
For the favor he shows, and the joy he bestows
Are for them who will trust and obey

  1. Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at his feet
Or we will walk by his side in the way
What he says we will do, where he sends we will go
Never fear, only trust and obey

Today’s Prayer
