Bible Text: 1 Peter 1:15-16
15 but just as he who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all of your behavior;
16 because it is written, “You shall be holy; for I am holy.”
Memory Verse
Hebrews 12:14 “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.”
A precious diamond is carefully separated from ordinary stones because of its unique value. After it is discovered, it goes through a process of cutting and polishing to reveal its beauty. The process may involve pressure and removal of impurities, but the result is something valuable and remarkable. Holiness is similar. It is the process of being set apart for God and allowing Him to remove anything that does not reflect His nature. Holiness is not merely following religious rules; it is a life surrendered to God, shaped by His Word, and dedicated to His purpose.
The price of holiness is separation from sin, discipline in our choices, and a willingness to please God above personal desires. It requires daily surrender because becoming more like Christ is a lifelong journey. Throughout the Scripture, those who walked in holiness carried the presence and purpose of God. Daniel chose holiness in a foreign land. Samuel was dedicated to God from childhood. Jesus lived a perfect life that revealed the beauty of complete holiness.
The price of holiness is the willingness to reject anything that separates us from God. It requires guarding our thoughts, words, actions, and relationships. Holiness begins from the heart and influences every area of life. A holy life does not mean a perfect life without mistakes; it means a life surrendered to God and committed to righteousness. When we fall, God’s grace restores us, but His desire is that we continue growing in purity and obedience. Holiness requires discipline because temptation constantly challenges our devotion. It requires wisdom because we must recognize influences that weaken our spiritual walk. It requires humility because we must allow God to correct and transform us.
The world often celebrates what pleases the flesh, but holiness chooses what pleases God. It is a decision to value eternal purpose above temporary satisfaction. God calls His people to holiness because He desires fellowship with them. Sin creates separation, but holiness creates deeper intimacy with God. A clean vessel can carry God’s presence and become useful for His kingdom.
The price may involve giving up certain habits, desires, or relationships, but the reward is a closer walk with God and a life that brings Him glory.
Holiness is not a burden; it is a privilege. It is the pathway to experiencing God’s presence, power, and purpose more deeply.

Covenant Gate Hymnals 51: SS & S 235: MY FAITH LOOKS UP TO THEE,
Stanza 1
My faith looks up to Thee,
Thou Lamb of Calvary,
Saviour divine ;
Now hear me while I pray ;
Take all my guilt away ;
Oh, let me from this day
Be wholly Thine.
Stanza 2
May Thy rich grace impart
Strength to my fainting heart,
My zeal inspire :
As Thou hast died for me,
Oh, may my love to Thee
Pure, warm, and changeless be—–
A living fire.
Stanza 3
While life’s dark maze I tread,
And griefs around me spread,
Be Thou my Guide :
Bid darkness turn to day,
Wipe sorrow’s tears away ;
Nor let me ever stray
From Thee aside.
Stanza 4
When ends life’s transient dream—-
When death’s cold, sullen stream
Shall o’er me roll—-
Blest Saviour, then in love,
Fear and distrust remove ;
Oh, bear me safe above—-
