Text: John 1:1-14
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
The Living Word of God (Jesus Christ)
Hebrews 1:2 “Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son.”
Jesus Christ is the Living Word and the clearest, fullest communication of God to humanity. While the written Word reveals God’s thoughts, Jesus reveals God’s nature, character, and personality in visible form. He is not only a messenger of God, He is God’s message manifested in human form. Through Jesus, humanity can see, understand, and experience God directly.
In the past, God spoke through prophets, signs, and divine encounters, but Jesus is the complete and perfect revelation of God. Everything Jesus said and did reflect the Father’s will. His teachings revealed God’s truth, His miracles revealed God’s power, and His life revealed God’s love. Jesus demonstrated how God thinks, speaks, and acts. To know Jesus is to know God’s mind and will.
Jesus communicates life, truth, and direction. His words bring spiritual clarity, transformation, and eternal life. He is the standard by which all truth is measured. Every revelation, doctrine, and spiritual experience must align with the character and teachings of Jesus Christ. The Living Word and the written Word always agree, because both originate from God.
The written Word is like a detailed letter, but Jesus is the author appearing in person to explain and demonstrate the message. While the letter provides instruction, the author’s presence brings clarity, understanding, and personal relationship. Jesus makes God’s message visible, personal, and fully understandable.
Jesus continues to communicate today through His Spirit, His Word, and His influence in your life as a believer. Through Him, believers receive guidance, peace, and assurance. He remains the perfect and final revelation of God.
Action Plans:
- Study the life and teachings of Jesus to understand God’s character and will.

COVENANT GATE HYMNALS 15; SS&S 607 I AM THINE, O LORD, I HAVE HEARD THY VOICE
| 1. I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice, And it told Thy love to me; But I long to rise in the arms of faith, And be closer drawn to Thee. |
| Refrain
Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord, |
| 2. Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord, By the power of grace divine; Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope, And my will be lost in Thine. |
| 3. O the pure delight of a single hour That before Thy throne I spend, When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God, I commune as friend with friend! |
| 4. There are depths of love that I may not know Till I cross the narrow sea; There are heights of joy that I may not reach Till I rest in peace with Thee. |
