THE HOLY SPIRIT as INTERNAL COMMUNICATOR Guidance and Instruction

Text: John 16:5–14

5 But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou?

6 But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.

7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;

10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;

11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

THE HOLY SPIRIT as INTERNAL COMMUNICATOR Guidance and Instruction

Memory Verse: Isaiah 30:21 “And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it.”

The Holy Spirit is God’s internal guide who provides direction, instruction, and clarity to you. He does not leave you to depend on human wisdom alone but actively communicates God’s truth and will. His guidance will help you make the right decisions, avoid error, and walk in alignment with divine purpose. The Holy Spirit sees beyond human limitations and reveals what is necessary for each moment and season.

His guidance often comes through inner impressions, conviction, spiritual understanding, and knowledge of the Scripture. He may prompt action, give restraint, or provide clarity during confusion. This guidance protects you from danger and leads you towards opportunities that aligns with God’s plan. His instruction is always consistent with God’s Word and produces peace, wisdom, and confidence.

The Holy Spirit is like a navigation system (GPS). A GPS provides real-time direction, warns when you are off course, and redirects you toward the correct path. The Holy Spirit provides continuous spiritual direction. When followed, He ensures safe and accurate arrival at God’s intended destination.

The Holy Spirit’s guidance becomes clearer through prayer, obedience, and spiritual sensitivity. Ignoring His instruction can lead to confusion, but obedience strengthens spiritual clarity and trust. As a believer in Christ, learn to depend on Him, you will gain confidence and stability in every decision.

Action Plans:

  • Seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance daily through prayer and surrender.
  • Study the Scripture to recognize His instruction clearly.
  • Obey His direction promptly to strengthen spiritual accuracy and confidence.

COVENANT GATE HYMNALS 15; SS&S 607 I AM THINE, O LORD, I HAVE HEARD THY VOICE

1.     I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith,
And be closer drawn to Thee.
         Refrain

         Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
       To the cross where Thou hast died;
         Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
     To Thy precious, bleeding side.

2.     Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
By the power of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine.
3.     O the pure delight of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God,
I commune as friend with friend!
4.     There are depths of love that I may not know
Till I cross the narrow sea;
There are heights of joy that I may not reach
Till I rest in peace with Thee.
