FORMS OF COMMUNICATION Dreams

Text: Job 33:14–16

14 For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not.

15 In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed;

16 Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction,

Matthew 1:20

20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

FORMS OF COMMUNICATION Dreams

  • Memory Verse: Numbers 12:6 “And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream.”Dreams are a form of spiritual communication through which God reveals guidance, warnings, instruction, and insight while the body is at rest. During sleep, the mind is quiet and less distracted, allowing the spirit to receive spiritual impressions more clearly. God uses dreams to communicate when He desires to reveal truth, provide direction, or prepare a person for future events.

    Dream communication can bring warning, confirmation, encouragement, or instruction. In Joseph’s case, God used a dream to protect Jesus by warning him of danger. This shows that dreams can serve as divine guidance for protection and decision-making. However, not every dream is from God, so dreams must be tested and confirmed by Scripture and the peace of the Holy Spirit.

    Dreams are like receiving a message during the day or night when normal activities are paused. Just as important updates may come when distractions are removed, God may use dreams to communicate clearly when the mind is quiet and receptive.

    God-given dreams often carry clarity, peace, and purpose. They do not produce confusion or contradict God’s Word. Spiritually mature believers learn to recognize, pray over, and interpret dreams with discernment and wisdom.

    Action Plans:

    • Pray before sleeping and invite God to communicate His will clearly.
    • Record dreams immediately upon waking.
    • Test every dream with the Scripture and seek confirmation through prayer.

COVENANT GATE HYMNALS 51: SS & S 235: MY FAITH LOOKS UP TO THEE,

  1. My faith looks up to Thee,

Thou Lamb of Calvary,

Saviour divine ;

Now hear me while I pray ;

Take all my guilt away ;

Oh, let me from this day

Be wholly Thine.

  1. May Thy rich grace impart

Strength to my fainting heart,

My zeal inspire :

As Thou hast died for me,

Oh, may my love to Thee

Pure, warm, and changeless be—–

A living fire.

  1. While life’s dark maze I tread,

And griefs around me spread,

Be Thou my Guide :

Bid darkness turn to day,

Wipe sorrow’s tears away ;

Nor let me ever stray

From Thee aside.

  1. When ends life’s transient dream—-

When death’s cold, sullen stream

Shall o’er me roll—-

Blest Saviour, then in love,

Fear and distrust remove ;

Oh, bear me safe above—-

Today’s Prayer

  1. Father, speak to me clearly through dreams according to Your perfect will.
  2. Lord, grant me wisdom to understand and interpret dreams correctly.
  3. Holy Spirit, help me discern and respond to every dream from God.
