Text: : Isaiah 1:18–20
18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
20 But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.
HUMAN & NEUTRAL CHANNELS; The Mind and Reason
- Memory Verse: Romans 12:2 “Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.”The mind and reason are important channels through which understanding, analysis, and decision-making occur. God created the human mind with the ability to think, reflect, evaluate, and understand. Reasoning allows you to process information, apply wisdom, and make responsible choices. It is a valuable tool that helps organize thoughts and interpret situations clearly.
However, reason is valuable, but limited. The human mind operates based on knowledge, experience, and available information, which may not always reflect spiritual truth. God’s wisdom is higher than human reasoning, and there are times when divine instruction goes beyond what the mind can fully understand. Reason can support spiritual understanding, but it cannot replace divine revelation.
God uses the mind; He does not bow to it. God communicates in ways the mind can understand, but His truth is not restricted by human logic. When the mind is submitted to God, it becomes a useful instrument for understanding His will. But when reason operates independently of God, it can lead to doubt, confusion, or resistance to divine direction.
God desires that you use your minds while remaining spiritually sensitive. A renewed mind supports spiritual growth and help you to apply God’s truth in practical ways. The Holy Spirit helps align human reasoning with divine wisdom, bringing balance between spiritual insight and mental understanding.
The mind is like a calculator. It processes information accurately based on what is entered, but it cannot create truth on its own. God provides the truth, and the mind helps process and apply it.
Action Plans:
- Submit your thoughts and reasoning to God through prayer.
- Study the Scripture to renew your mind.
- Allow the Holy Spirit to guide your understanding.
COVENANT GATE HYMNALS 29: SS&S 642:: WHEN WE WALK WITH THE LORD
- When we walk with the Lord in the light of his Word
What a glory he sheds on our way
While we do his good will, he abides with us still
And with all who will trust and obeyTrust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey
- Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies
But his smile quickly drives it away
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh nor a tear
Can abide while we trust and obey
- Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share
But our toil he doth richly repay
Not a grief nor a loss, not a frown or a cross
But is blest if we trust and obey
- But we never can prove the delights of his love
Until all on the altar we lay
For the favor he shows, and the joy he bestows
Are for them who will trust and obey
- Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at his feet
Or we will walk by his side in the way
What he says we will do, where he sends we will go
Never fear, only trust and obey
