A Converted Heart

A Converted Heart

A Converted Heart

Text: : Joel 2:12–13

12 Therefore also now, saith the Lord, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:

13 And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.

Memory Verse: Psalm 51:10 “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.”Before a seed can grow into a fruitful tree, it must first be planted and transformed beneath the soil. Without that initial change, there can be no growth, no fruit, and no life. A heart after God must first experience conversion. Spiritual transformation begins when the heart turns to God and receives His forgiveness.

To have a heart after God’s heart, one must first be converted. Conversion is the moment when a person recognizes their sinful condition, turns to God in repentance, and receives His saving grace. Without this transformation, the human heart remains distant from God.

Psalm 51:5 reveals David’s understanding of human nature: “Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.” David acknowledged that sin is part of humanity’s fallen condition. By nature, people cannot make themselves righteous before God. No achievement, status, or good work can remove the stain of sin.

However, God offers forgiveness and restoration. Psalm 32:1 declares: “Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.” This blessing comes through salvation. When God forgives sin, He cleanses the heart and restores relationship with Him. Conversion replaces guilt with grace, condemnation with mercy, and separation with fellowship.

A heart after God begins with salvation. It begins when a person humbly acknowledges their need for God and receives the new life He offers. From that moment, the journey of transformation and spiritual growth begins.

COVENANT GATE HYMNALS 131 Break the Chains, O Lord (Tune: Amazing Grace) By Apostle James Abache

  1. O Lord, we come, our hearts contrite,
    From darkness into day;
    Break every chain and set us free,
    And guide us in Your way.

Refrain

Break the chains, O Lord, we pray,
And drive all fear away;
By Your blood we overcome,
And walk in endless day.

  1. The sins of old, the voice of shame,
    Are silenced by Your Word;
    Through Jesus’ blood we overcome,
    Our victory is secured.
  2. New songs we sing, new paths we tread,
    For Christ has won the fight;
    The grave is torn, new life is born,
    We walk as children bright.

Today’s Prayer:

  1. Father, cleanse my heart and forgive every sin through Your mercy.
  2. Lord, establish my life firmly in the salvation found in Christ.
  3. Father, open the hearts of my loved ones to repentance and lead them into the saving grace of Christ.
