A Seeking Heart

A Seeking Heart

Text: Hebrews 11:5–6

5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Memory Verse: Jeremiah 29:13 “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”

A treasure hunter searches diligently for hidden treasure. They do not stop after a few minutes of searching; they continue patiently and carefully because they believe the treasure is worth finding. Those who truly desire God must seek Him sincerely and wholeheartedly. When the heart genuinely pursues God, it eventually discovers the richness of His presence.

A seeking heart is a heart that earnestly desires to know God more deeply. It is not satisfied with a superficial relationship or occasional spiritual activity. Instead, it actively pursues God through prayer, study of His Word, worship, and obedience. In Jeremiah 29:13, God promised that those who seek Him with all their heart will find Him. This promise emphasizes sincerity and wholehearted devotion. God responds to those whose desire for Him is genuine and persistent.

A seeking heart is marked by hunger for spiritual truth. Such a heart longs to understand God’s will and to experience His guidance. Rather than relying on human wisdom alone, it continually turns to God for direction. Seeking God also requires persistence. At times, answers may not come immediately, and circumstances may test faith. However, those with a seeking heart remain committed to pursuing God because they trust that He will reveal Himself in His perfect time.

When you develop a seeking heart, you grow in spiritual awareness and intimacy with God. Your relationship with Him becomes deeper, your faith becomes stronger, and your life reflect greater spiritual maturity.

A seeking heart therefore opens the door to discovering the richness of God’s presence and the wisdom of His guidance.

COVENANT GATE HYMNALS 29: SS&S 642: WHEN WE WALK WITH THE LORD

  1. When we walk with the Lord in the light of his Word
What a glory he sheds on our way
While we do his good will, he abides with us still
And with all who will trust and obeyTrust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey
  2. Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies
But his smile quickly drives it away
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh nor a tear
Can abide while we trust and obey
  3. Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share
But our toil he doth richly repay
Not a grief nor a loss, not a frown or a cross
But is blest if we trust and obey
  4. But we never can prove the delights of his love
Until all on the altar we lay
For the favor he shows, and the joy he bestows
Are for them who will trust and obey
  5. Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at his feet
Or we will walk by his side in the way
What he says we will do, where he sends we will go
Never fear, only trust and obey
