Text: Matthew 6:24-26
24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
Memory Verse: James 1:8 “A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.”
A person trying to walk in two different directions at the same time will not move forward but will eventually lose balance and fall. A heart that is divided between God and other competing loyalties cannot remain stable. Spiritual progress requires a heart that is focused and fully committed.
A divided heart is one that attempts to serve two masters. It desires the blessings of God while still holding onto worldly priorities, personal ambitions, or sinful habits. This inner conflict creates instability because the heart is pulled in opposing directions.
James describes such a person as double-minded and unstable. Instability appears in decisions, commitments, and spiritual growth. One moment the person feels devoted to God, and the next moment they are influenced by fear, doubt, or worldly desires. This divided loyalty weakens faith and hinders spiritual maturity.
God desires wholehearted devotion from His people. Throughout the Scripture, God calls His people to love Him with all their heart, soul, and strength. When the heart is fully devoted to Him, it becomes steady and focused.
A united heart produces clarity and stability. Instead of being pulled in different directions, it seeks to honour God in every area of life, thoughts, choices, relationships, and priorities. When the heart is undivided, faith becomes stronger and obedience becomes more consistent.
God strengthens those whose hearts are fully committed to Him. A single-minded devotion allow you to grow in confidence, wisdom, and spiritual stability.

COVENANT GATE HYMNALS 131 Break the Chains, O Lord (Tune: Amazing Grace) By Apostle James Abache
From darkness into day;
Break every chain and set us free,
And guide us in Your way.
Break the chains, O Lord, we pray,
And drive all fear away;
By Your blood we overcome,
And walk in endless day.
Are silenced by Your Word;
Through Jesus’ blood we overcome,
Our victory is secured.
For Christ has won the fight;
The grave is torn, new life is born,
We walk as children bright.
Prayers
- Father, unite my heart so that I may serve You with complete devotion.
- Lord, remove every divided loyalty and strengthen my commitment to You.
- Father, help my family and community develop undivided hearts that remain stable in faith and devoted to You.
