Jesus said to him,
“‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’
Memory Verse:
Matthew 22:33-37 “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.”
A compass always points toward the north, guiding travelers regardless of where they are. When the compass is accurate, direction is clear; when it is faulty, the journey becomes confused. Love is the compass of the heart. When the heart is filled with genuine love for God, it directs every decision, priority, and action toward Him.
A loving heart is the foundation of true devotion. In Matthew 22:37, Jesus declared that loving God with all the heart is the greatest commandment. This shows that God is not merely interested in outward actions but in inward affection and wholehearted devotion. A loving heart is fully surrendered to God. It is not divided or conditional. It seeks to honour God in every area of life; thoughts, choices, relationships, and priorities. Love for God goes beyond duty; it is a deep desire to please Him and remain connected to Him.
Love also fuels obedience. When the heart truly loves God, obedience becomes a joy rather than a burden. The believer does not serve God out of fear or obligation but out of genuine affection and reverence. This kind of love produces consistency and faithfulness in the Christian walk. A loving heart also shapes how we relate to others. When we love God sincerely, His love flows through us to people around us. Kindness, patience, forgiveness, and compassion become natural expressions of a heart that is rooted in God’s love.
However, love must be cultivated and protected. Distractions, worldly desires, and spiritual neglect can weaken our love for God. This is why you must intentionally nurture your relationship with Him through prayer, worship, and meditation on His Word. A loving heart remains steadfast even in difficult times. Circumstances may change, but love for God remains constant because it is based on who He is, not on what He gives.
A loving heart is therefore the highest expression of spiritual maturity. It aligns you with God’s will, strengthens devotion, and produces a life that reflects His character.

Covenant Gate Hymnals 30: SS&S 902: MY HOPE IS BUILT ON NOTHING LESS
Than Jesus Christ, my righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand
When darkness veils His lovely face
I rest on His unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil. His oath, His covenant, His blood
Support me in the whelming flood
When all around my soul gives way
He then is all my hope and stay
When He shall come with trumpet sound
Oh, may I then in Him be found;
In Him, my righteousness, alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne
