ALTARS OF NEAR-SUCCESS SYNDROME VS. THE ALTAR OF COMPLETION

Bible Text Matthew 19:16–22

16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?

17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus Christ said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,

19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?

21 Jesus Christ said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.

Memory verse: Philippians 1:6 “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

Many believers experience near-success syndrome: touching the edge of blessings, breakthroughs, or opportunities but never fully crossing the finish line. This is a spiritual pattern controlled by the altar of incompletion. It causes last-minute cancellations, blocked contracts, unfinished projects, and delayed testimonies.

This altar behaves like a nearly full cup with a hole at the bottom. Efforts, prayers, and resources pour in, but completion never arrives. God’s altar of completion, however, is like a sealed reservoir, once filled, nothing leaks. Whatever God begins, He finishes. The altar of completion enforces finishing grace, maturity of projects, and full manifestation of divine promises.

Today, we dismantle every altar of near-success and raise the altar of completion. No more “almost,” “nearly,” or “about to” from now on, breakthroughs will reach their intended fulfillment.

Action Plan:

1. Identify three areas where breakthroughs stopped at the final stage.
2. Declare: “I will finish well; I will not be stopped.”
3. Lay hands on your head and speak Philippians 1:6 seven times.
4. Pray for finishing grace over stalled assignments.
5. Take one decisive step toward completing a pending project today.

1. When we stand by the cross,
   Where the Lamb’s blood was shed,
   Every altar of darkness must fall;
   For the covenant flame
   Now is speaking our name,
   And the Lord breaks the chains of them all.

Refrain

Covenant freedom we claim,
Through the blood we are free;
Every bondage forever is gone,
At the altar of grace
We receive heaven’s place,
And the power of the cross leads on.

2. Ancient voices may cry
   From foundations gone by,
   Trying still to control destiny;
   But the blood of the Lamb
   Has rewritten our plan,
   And declares we are fully set free.

3. Like the servant of God
   Who tore Baal’s altar down,
   We arise by the Spirit and stand;
   Every covenant wrong
   Cannot linger for long,
   When the Lord builds His throne in the land.

4. Now the altar of Christ
   Speaks redemption and life,
   And the curse has no hold anymore;
   Generations shall rise
   Under covenant skies,
   For the Lord has unlocked every door.

5. Every altar of night
   Loses power and right
   When the covenant altar appears;
   For the blood now proclaims
   Victory over our names,
   And the Lord wipes away all our fears.

6. So we lift up our voice
   And in Christ we rejoice,
   For the battle is won by His grace;
   Every altar must bow
   To the Saviour just now,
   And His kingdom shall reign in this place.

Prayers:

1. Prayers For Successful Career

Joshua 21:45 “There failed not ought of any good thing which the LORD had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass.”

Near-success syndrome in career is like running towards a finish line that keeps moving farther away; effort is made, but completion remains elusive. Joshua 21:45 is reminding you that when God speaks, His promises come to full completion. He does not bring people near success only for them to fail. God fixes the finish line, ensuring that labour, opportunities, and assignments are completed successfully and with lasting results.

Prayers

• Father, let every career breakthrough You have begun in my life come to full completion; I reject unfinished success, in Jesus’ name.

• Lord, remove every last-minute failure, disappointment, and reversal from my career; let success manifest fully in every endeavour, in Jesus’ name.

• Lord, empower me to finish every assignment with excellence; strengthen my capacity, diligence, and wisdom for outstanding performance, in Jesus’ name.

2. Pray for Financial Breakthrough

Deuteronomy 28:12 “The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.”

Financial breakthroughs that begin but never mature are like plants that bloom beautifully yet never produce fruit. They show promise, but the expected harvest never arrives. Deuteronomy 28:12 reveals God’s intention not merely to start blessing His people, but to bring provision to full manifestation. When God completes financial promises, effort turns into harvest, opportunities produce increase, and blessings mature into lasting multiplication and financial abundance.

Prayers

• Father, complete every financial promise You have spoken over my life; let every blessing mature into full manifestation and in abundance, in Jesus’ name.

• Lord, release supernatural multiplication and increase upon my finances; let every seed of labour produce harvest beyond expectation, in Jesus’ name.

• Lord, remove every hidden spiritual obstacle blocking my provision; clear the way for financial abundance and sustained prosperity, in Jesus’ name.

3. Pray For Education Breakthrough for All Your Children

Daniel 1:17 “As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.”

Education interrupted is like a building with incomplete floors; progress has begun, but the structure cannot reach its intended height. Daniel 1:17 shows that God gives knowledge, skill, and wisdom for learning. When His hand rests upon children, academic progress becomes steady and excellence follows. God empowers them to overcome obstacles, complete every stage of education successfully, and finish with distinction and honour.

Prayer Points

• Father, let every academic pursuit of my children reach full completion; establish their studies and grant success at every level, in Jesus’ name.

• Lord, remove every delay, suspension, cancellation, or setback affecting my children’s education; let uninterrupted progress become their portion, in Jesus’ name.

• Lord, release knowledge, wisdom, and excellence upon my children; empower them to finish their education with distinction and honour, in Jesus’ name.

4. Pray for Breakthrough in Business

Proverbs 16:3 “Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.”

Businesses that begin well but collapse prematurely are like rivers that dry up before reaching the ocean; there is movement, but no lasting destination. Proverbs 16:3 teaches that when business plans and efforts are committed to God, He establishes them. His guidance brings stability, direction, and endurance. With divine establishment, ventures do not merely start, they mature, endure challenges, and achieve their intended impact and profitability.

Prayer Points

• Father, stabilize and complete all my business ventures; establish every work of my hands and cause them to prosper continually, in Jesus’ name.

• Lord, remove every sudden loss, collapse, and failure pattern affecting my business; preserve my ventures and establish lasting success, in Jesus’ name.

• Lord, let every project and venture I undertake achieve its intended impact; grant profitability, relevance, and enduring fruitfulness, in Jesus’ name.

5. Pray for Stable Relationships

Colossians 3:14 “And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.”

Relationships that almost succeed but repeatedly collapse are like bridges failing before construction is complete; connection exists, yet it cannot support lasting partnership. Colossians 3:14 teaches that love is the bond that perfects and holds people together. When God strengthens relationships with genuine love, patience, and understanding, they become stable and enduring. His presence removes division and establishes harmony, helping relationships mature into lasting unity and fulfilment.

Prayer Points

• Father, perfect and complete every relationship, marriage, and partnership You have ordained for me; establish them in love, peace, and permanence, in Jesus’ name.
• Lord, remove every last-minute separation, misunderstanding, and breakup from my relationships; let every good connection reach fulfilment, in Jesus’ name.
• Lord, establish lasting unity and harmony in my relationships; strengthen every bond with love, trust, and understanding, in Jesus’ name.

6. Pray For a Clean Bill of Health

Jeremiah 30:17 “For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the God; because they called thee an Outcast, saying, This is Zion, whom no man seeketh after.”

Healing that begins but never reaches completion is like a candle going out before it fully lights the room; progress starts, yet full restoration is not seen. Jeremiah 30:17 reveals God’s promise not merely to begin healing, but to restore health completely. His desire is lasting wholeness, not temporary relief. When God completes healing, recurring illness stops, strength returns, and vitality is permanently re-established.

Prayer Points

• Father, complete every healing and recovery in my body; let Your restoring power bring total wholeness and perfect health, in Jesus’ name.

• Lord, remove every recurring illness, decline, and health setback from my life; establish permanent healing and restoration, in Jesus’ name.

• Lord, establish lasting health and vitality in my body; strengthen every weak area and renew my strength daily, in Jesus’ name.

7. Pray for a successful Ministry and God Given Assignment

1 Corinthians 15:58 “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”

Ministry that begins with zeal but later stalls is like a garden planted with good seed that stops growing before harvest; effort is invested, yet fruit never fully appears. 1 Corinthians 15:58 assures believers that labour in the Lord is never wasted. When God strengthens ministry, He brings growth, endurance, and fruitfulness. Divine empowerment ensures that assignments are completed and every labour produces lasting spiritual impact.

Prayer Points

• Father, bring full completion to every ministry initiative You have entrusted to me; let every assignment to me fulfil its divine purpose, in Jesus’ name.

• Lord, remove every spiritual attack, resistance, and hindrance opposing my ministry; grant victory and unhindered progress, in Jesus’ name.

• Lord, let all my labour in Your Kingdom bear lasting fruit; establish enduring impact through every work of service, in Jesus’ name.

8. Pray For Empowerment to Fulfil Your Divine Assignments

Philippians 1:6 “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

Divine assignments that remain unfinished are like scrolls that are written but never fully unrolled; the purpose exists, but completion is delayed. Philippians 1:6 assures believers that God Himself is committed to finishing what He starts. When His hand is upon a life, assignments are not abandoned halfway. He supplies grace, removes hindrances, and ensures every divine purpose reaches full completion with excellence and lasting impact.

Prayer Points

• Father, let all my divine assignments reach full completion; finish every good work You have started in my life, in Jesus’ name.

• Lord, remove every delay, obstruction, and spiritual interference affecting my assignments; release divine speed and breakthrough, in Jesus’ name.

• Lord, release finishing grace upon every area of my life; empower me to complete assignments with excellence and consistency, in Jesus’ name.

9. Pray For Empowerment to Fulfil Your Goals and Dreams

Psalm 138:8 “The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.”

Unfulfilled dreams are like bridges that almost reach the other side but stop short of completion, leaving the journey unfinished. Psalm 138:8 assures that God is committed to perfecting everything concerning His people. He does not abandon His work halfway. When God is involved, He strengthens efforts, removes hindrances, and ensures completion. His mercy guarantees that goals and dreams are brought to full, successful manifestation.

Prayer Points

• Father, let my goals and dreams be fully achieved; perfect everything concerning my destiny and bring every vision to completion, in Jesus’ name.

• Lord, remove every obstacle, delay, and resistance at the final stage of my progress; let nothing hinder my breakthrough, in Jesus’ name.

• Lord, empower me with strength, wisdom, and grace to finish every plan successfully; establish lasting results in my life, in Jesus’ name.

10. Pray Over Your Testimonies

Isaiah 43:19 “Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”

Unfinished testimonies are like books missing their final chapters, leaving the story incomplete and unresolved. Isaiah 43:19 shows that God is the author of new beginnings and complete turnarounds. He does not only start new things but ensures they manifest fully. When God intervenes, impossibilities become pathways and dryness becomes abundance. Every interrupted story in life is rewritten by Him into a complete testimony of victory and restoration.

Prayer Points

• Father, complete every testimony in my life; let every unfinished story be perfected and end in clear manifestation of Your glory, in Jesus’ name.

• Lord, remove every interruption, sabotage, and resistance working against my testimonies; restore divine order and breakthrough, in Jesus’ name.

• Lord, let every story of my life conclude in victory; turn every struggle into a testimony of Your power, in Jesus’ name.

11. Pray Over Your Personal Projects

Ecclesiastes 3:1 “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”

Personal projects that fail to reach completion are like trains that depart from the station but never arrive at their destination; movement begins, but arrival never happens. Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us that God has appointed seasons for every purpose. When He governs a project, He ensures timing, progress, and completion align. His order removes delays and ensures that every effort reaches its intended end successfully and at the right time.

Prayer Points

• Father, let all my personal projects be completed successfully; establish every plan and bring each one to its appointed and successful end, in Jesus’ name.

• Lord, remove every setback, delay, and obstruction at the final stage of my progress; let nothing stop my completion, in Jesus’ name.

• Lord, empower me with strength, wisdom, and consistency to fulfil every plan You have placed in my heart, in Jesus’ name.

12. Pray For Your Spiritual Growth

2 Peter 1:5–8

5. “And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6. And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7. And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Spiritual growth interrupted is like trees pruned before maturity; potential exists, but development is cut short before full fruitfulness. 2 Peter 1:5–8 shows that spiritual maturity happens through steady growth in faith, knowledge, discipline, and godliness. God’s desire is not partial growth but complete development. When He nurtures you, stagnation is broken, understanding increases, and the life of faith becomes fruitful, stable, and spiritually mature.

Prayer Points

• Father, let my spiritual development reach full maturity; grow me into a fruitful, stable, and mature believer in every area, in Jesus’ name.

• Lord, remove every stagnation in my spiritual growth and understanding; increase my knowledge, wisdom, and revelation daily, in Jesus’ name.

• Lord, establish me firmly in every area of faith; strengthen my walk with You and make me spiritually fruitful, in Jesus’ name.

13. Pray to Complete Your Life Purpose

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

Life purpose interrupted is like travelling with a map that has no destination marked; movement happens, but fulfilment remains unclear. Jeremiah 29:11 shows that God has a definite plan and expected end for every life. His intention is not confusion or incompletion, but purposeful fulfilment. When God directs your destiny, delays and distractions lose power, and the journey moves steadily towards the completion of divine purpose.

Prayer Points

• Father, let me fulfil my divine purpose completely; guide every step of my life until destiny is fully accomplished, in Jesus’ name.

• Lord, remove every spiritual delay, distraction, and deviation from my path; keep me aligned with Your purpose, in Jesus’ name.

• Lord, empower me to finish strong in destiny; grant me grace, endurance, and wisdom to complete my assignment, in Jesus’ name.

14. Pray For Completion in Covenant Blessings

Malachi 3:10 “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.”

Covenant blessings that begin but never fully manifest are like trees planted in poor soil; though alive, they struggle to reach full fruitfulness. Malachi 3:10 shows God’s desire to release overflowing blessing upon those who walk in covenant obedience. He does not intend partial blessing but abundance. When God nurtures covenant blessings, hindrances are removed, provision flows freely, and blessings manifest fully and endure permanently.

Prayer Points

• Father, release every covenant blessing You have ordained for my life in full measure; let none remain delayed or incomplete, in Jesus’ name.

• Lord, remove every hindrance, obstruction, and resistance standing at the final stage of my blessings, in Jesus’ name.

• Lord, establish blessings in my life that manifest permanently; let Your favour and provision remain enduring and unshakable, in Jesus’ name.
