Bible Text: Isaiah 1:19-20
19 If you are willing and obedient,
you will eat the good things of the land;
20 but if you resist and rebel,
you will be devoured by the sword.”
For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.
Memory Verse:
Exodus 35:5 “Take ye from among you an offering unto the LORD: whosoever is of a willing heart, let him bring it…”
A door may be beautifully designed and strongly built, but it is only useful when it is open. No matter how valuable what lies inside, access is impossible if the door remains shut. The heart may have potential, gifts, and abilities, but until it becomes willing, God cannot fully work through it. Willingness is the open door that allows God to use a life.
A willing heart is a heart that is ready, available, and responsive to God. It is not forced, reluctant, or resistant. In Exodus 35:5, God invited those who were “of a willing heart” to bring offerings for His work. This shows that God does not compel service, He values voluntary devotion. God is more interested in willingness than ability. Ability can be developed, but willingness must come from the heart. Somebody may have great talent but can be unusable if unwilling, while another with limited ability can be greatly used because of a willing spirit.
A willing heart responds quickly to God’s instructions. It does not delay obedience or look for excuses. Instead, it says “yes” to God even when the task seems difficult or inconvenient. This kind of heart reflects trust in God’s wisdom and purpose. Willingness also expresses love and surrender. When a person truly loves God, they become eager to serve Him. Their service is not driven by pressure or obligation but by a genuine desire to please God.
However, a willing heart must be maintained. Fear, doubt, pride, and comfort can hinder willingness. Sometimes God call you out of your comfort zone, and only a willing heart can respond positively in such moments. In such moments, a willing heart attracts God’s attention. Throughout the Scripture, God consistently uses those who are available and ready to obey. Willingness positions a believer for divine assignment, growth, and impact.
A willing heart is therefore essential, it opens the way for God to work, transforms obedience into joy, and enables believers to fulfill God’s purpose for their lives.

Covenant Gate Hymnals 38: SS & S 616: TAKE MY LIFE, AND LET IT BE
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee;
Take my moments and my days,
Let them flow in ceaseless praise.Take my hands, and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love ;
Take my feet, and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee.
Take my voice, and let me sing
Always, only, for my King ;
Take my lips, and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee.
Take my silver and my gold ;
Not a mite would I withhold :
Take my intellect, and use
Every power as Thou shalt choose.
Take my will, and make it Thine ;
It shall be no longer mine :
Take my heart—-it is Thine own,
It shall be Thy royal throne.
Take my love : my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure store :
Take myself; and I will be
Ever, only, all for Thee.
