Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;
who put darkness for light,
and light for darkness;

A faulty compass gives wrong directions and causes travelers to become lost. Spiritual blindness distorts moral judgment and causes people to confuse right with wrong. Without God’s truth guiding the heart, decisions become dangerous and misleading. Confusion about right and wrong is a serious sign of spiritual blindness. When spiritual understanding becomes darkened, people lose the ability to judge situations according to God’s standards. Wrong actions begin to appear acceptable, while righteousness may seem unnecessary or extreme.
The Bible warns against calling evil good and good evil. Spiritual blindness distorts perception and weakens moral discernment. Many people become influenced by worldly opinions, sinful desires, and false teachings instead of relying on God’s truth. As a result, values become corrupted and godly principles are ignored. A spiritually blind person may justify sinful behavior, reject biblical correction, or follow harmful lifestyles without conviction. Pride and self-centered thinking often contribute to this confusion. When people depend solely on personal feelings or societal trends, they gradually drift away from God’s standards of righteousness. You can also experience confusion when you neglect prayer, Scripture study, and obedience to God. Without spiritual light, the heart struggles to recognize truth clearly. Sin clouds judgment and weakens sensitivity to the Holy Spirit. This condition often leads to poor decisions, spiritual instability, and harmful consequences.
God’s Word provides clear guidance for distinguishing right from wrong. Through studying the Scripture and maintaining fellowship with God, spiritual discernment becomes stronger. The Holy Spirit helps believers recognize truth, reject deception, and walk wisely according to God’s will. Jesus Christ is the light of the world, and those who follow Him will not walk in darkness. A believer who remains close to God gains wisdom, clarity, and moral understanding. Spiritual light protects the heart from confusion and deception.
