From Blindness to Sight

From Blindness to Sight

Bible Text: John 9:39–41

Jesus said,
“I came into this world for judgment, that those who don’t see may see; and that those who see may become blind.”
Those of the Pharisees who were with him heard these things, and said to him, “Are we also blind?”
Jesus said to them,
“If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you say, ‘We see.’ Therefore your sin remains.

Memory Verse:

Ephesians 1:18 “The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints.”

A person walking in darkness feels uncertain and fearful until light suddenly appears. Once light shines, obstacles, pathways, and directions become visible clearly. Spiritual sight changes how you understand life, purpose, truth, and eternity completely. Spiritual transformation occurs when blindness is removed and spiritual sight is restored through Christ. A spiritually blind person struggles with confusion, deception, uncertainty, and lack of understanding. However, when God opens spiritual eyes, truth becomes clearer, faith grows stronger, and life gains divine direction and purpose.

Jesus came to bring spiritual sight to those living in darkness. Through relationship with Him, you begin to understand God’s truth, recognize His voice, and walk according to His will faithfully. Spiritual brightness changes perspectives, priorities, decisions, and attitudes completely. When spiritual blindness is removed, truth becomes clear. God’s Word begins to make deeper sense, and spiritual understanding increases. Believers become more sensitive to the Holy Spirit and better able to recognize deception, temptation, and error quickly.

God’s voice also becomes more recognizable. A spiritually enlightened believer learns to discern divine guidance through the Scripture, prayer, and the Holy Spirit. Direction becomes clearer because spiritual discernment grows stronger. Instead of walking in confusion, you gain confidence through God’s wisdom and leading. Faith also becomes stronger when spiritual sight increases. You begin to trust God more deeply because you recognize His faithfulness and purpose clearly. Fear, doubt, and uncertainty decrease as spiritual understanding grows. Spiritual sight transforms how people view life and eternity. Earthly distractions lose control over the heart, while eternal priorities become more important. You become more committed to holiness, obedience, worship, and fulfilling God’s purpose faithfully. Throughout the Scripture, people who encountered God experienced transformed understanding and renewed direction. Spiritual enlightenment produced wisdom, boldness, peace, and purpose. God still desires to open hearts and reveal His truth today.

Covenant Gate Hymnals 29: SS&S 642: WHEN WE WALK WITH THE LORD

When we walk with the Lord in the light of his Word
What a glory he sheds on our way
While we do his good will, he abides with us still
And with all who will trust and obey

Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey

Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies
But his smile quickly drives it away
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh nor a tear
Can abide while we trust and obey

Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share
But our toil he doth richly repay
Not a grief nor a loss, not a frown or a cross
But is blest if we trust and obey

But we never can prove the delights of his love
Until all on the altar we lay
For the favor he shows, and the joy he bestows
Are for them who will trust and obey

Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at his feet
Or we will walk by his side in the way
What he says we will do, where he sends we will go
Never fear, only trust and obey
