Bible Text: Proverbs 3:13–18
13. Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.
14. For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.
15. She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.
16. Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.
17. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.
18. She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.
Memory Verse: James 1:5 “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”
A chess player does not move a piece merely because space is available. Before every move, he considers what is happening now, what may happen next, and how the present move affects the final outcome. Every decision you make in life can open or close a door, create an opportunity or produce a problem. Divine wisdom enables us to look beyond immediate circumstances and perceive God’s direction. It teaches us when to move, when to wait, what to accept, what to reject, whom to trust, and how to position ourselves for God’s purpose.
Strategic living requires more than intelligence, experience, education, or human ability. You can be intelligent and still make poor decisions. A leader may have authority and still lack direction. Someone may have opportunities around them and fail to recognize which ones align with God’s purpose. Divine wisdom gives us the ability to make decisions according to God’s perspective rather than merely reacting to circumstances.
In this September 2026 Midnight Encounter, we will seek God’s wisdom for every dimension of our lives: our families, relationships, businesses, careers, finances, ministries, leadership, responsibilities, opportunities, challenges, and future plans. Wisdom will help us distinguish between what is good and what is best, between an open door and a dangerous distraction, between divine timing and premature action, and between voices that should be followed and voices that should be rejected.
As we pray throughout this month October, may God grant us wisdom to think strategically, discern accurately, speak appropriately, lead responsibly, plan wisely, act courageously, and finish successfully.
COVENANT GATE HYMNALS 75: The Holy Spirit and Spiritual Wisdom: By Apostle James Abache
- O Spirit of God, so pure and true,
We seek Your wisdom, to guide us through,
In every moment, in every way,
Teach us to walk, to watch, and pray.
Refrain:
Come, Holy Spirit, enlighten our hearts,
With wisdom divine, Your truth impart,
Guide us in knowledge, in all that we do,
To live for Christ, and make all things new.
- You search the depths of God’s holy mind,
Reveal His will to hearts so blind,
With understanding, You lead us along,
In Your sweet presence, we are made strong.
- Grant us the wisdom to love and forgive,
To walk in Your ways, to humbly live,
The Spirit of truth, the Spirit of grace,
Transform our hearts and seek God’s face.
- O Spirit, our Teacher, our Guide, our Friend,
In Your wisdom, we find no end,
Empower our lives with love and light,
To walk in the path of eternal sight.

O Holy Spirit, we yield to You,
In Your wisdom, all things are made new.
Prayers
1. PRAY FOR WISDOM FOR DAILY DECISIONS
Bible Text: James 1:5 “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”
A driver approaching a busy junction needs more than speed; he needs direction. One wrong turn can take him far from his destination, while the right direction can save time and prevent danger. Life presents us with countless decisions, both small and significant. Divine wisdom helps us know what to choose, what to avoid, when to act, and when to wait. Godly wisdom prevents costly mistakes and keeps our decisions aligned with God’s purpose.
Prayer
- Father, give me divine wisdom to make every decision according to Your will and purpose for my life, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
- Lord, deliver me from impulsive decisions, confusion, wrong counsel, and choices that could create unnecessary problems in my future, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
- Father, let Your wisdom guide my thoughts, choices, conversations, relationships, and actions throughout this month, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
2. PRAY FOR WISDOM IN LEADERSHIP
Bible Text: 1 Kings 3:9–10 “Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people? And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.”
A captain may have a powerful ship, a skilled crew, and sufficient supplies, but without good navigation, the vessel can still move toward danger. Leadership is similar. Position alone does not produce effective leadership. Leaders need wisdom to understand people, recognize challenges, make fair decisions, manage resources, and choose the right direction. When God gives wisdom, leadership becomes a channel through which people can experience order, progress, protection, and purposeful advancement.
Prayer
- Father, give me an understanding heart to lead wisely, serve faithfully, and make decisions that produce righteous results, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
- Lord, grant me discernment to understand people, situations, responsibilities, and opportunities entrusted into my hands, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
- Father, deliver me from pride, impatience, partiality, and poor judgment, and establish wisdom in every leadership responsibility, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
3. PRAY FOR WISDOM IN BUSINESS, WORK, AND CAREER
Bible Text: Proverbs 24:3–4 “Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.”
A builder does not begin constructing a house by randomly placing blocks. He first studies the plan, measures carefully, establishes the foundation, and then builds progressively. Business and career development require the same discipline. Wisdom helps us identify profitable opportunities, manage resources, solve problems, build sustainable structures, and avoid decisions that weaken what we have built. Divine wisdom enables us to build not merely quickly, but correctly, sustainably, and according to God’s purpose.
Prayer
- Father, release wisdom upon my work, business, career, and professional responsibilities for sustainable growth and fruitful results, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
- Lord, reveal profitable opportunities and give me understanding to recognize, evaluate, and maximize them wisely, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
- Father, protect my work and business from costly mistakes, wrong partnerships, poor investments, and decisions that cause unnecessary losses, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
4. PRAY FOR WISDOM IN FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
Bible Text: Proverbs 21:5 “The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.”
A farmer who harvests abundantly but consumes every seed will eventually face an empty field. Financial increase without wisdom can disappear as quickly as it arrives. Strategic financial living requires discipline, planning, patience, proper priorities, and careful stewardship. God gives resources, but wisdom teaches us how to manage them. Divine wisdom can help us distinguish between needs and wants, productive investments and wasteful spending, and opportunities and financial traps.
Prayer
- Father, give me wisdom to manage every financial resource You place in my hands with discipline, diligence, and understanding, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
- Lord, deliver me from financial haste, waste, unnecessary debt, unwise investments, and decisions that destroy financial stability, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
- Father, teach me profitable financial strategies and establish the work of my hands with sustainable increase, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
5. PRAY FOR WISDOM TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT ASSOCIATIONS
Bible Text: Proverbs 13:20 “He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.”
A person walking through a forest may reach his destination safely when guided by an experienced guide, but following the wrong guide can lead him deeper into danger. Relationships influence direction. The people around us can strengthen our wisdom, weaken our convictions, open opportunities, or introduce unnecessary problems. Strategic living therefore requires discernment concerning friendships, partnerships, advisers, mentors, and associates. Godly wisdom helps us recognize relationships that contribute to our destiny.
Prayer
- Father, give me wisdom to recognize people who genuinely support Your purpose and destiny for my life, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
- Lord, disconnect me from relationships that continually encourage ungodliness, confusion, destruction, or decisions contrary to Your will, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
- Father, connect me with wise, trustworthy, purposeful, and godly people who will strengthen my journey, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
6. PRAY FOR WISDOM TO UNDERSTAND TIMES AND SEASONS
Bible Text: 1 Chronicles 12:32 “And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment.”
A farmer does not plant every crop at every time of the year. He studies the season, prepares the soil, plants at the appropriate time, and waits patiently for harvest. Life also has seasons. There are times to begin, times to wait, times to expand, times to retreat, and times to prepare. Divine wisdom gives us understanding of God’s timing so that we do not force what should wait or delay what requires action.
Prayer
- Father, give me understanding of the times and seasons concerning my life, family, work, ministry, and destiny, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
- Lord, deliver me from premature actions and unnecessary delays; teach me when to move, wait, prepare, and advance, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
- Father, let me recognize every divine opportunity and respond appropriately when my appointed season arrives, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
7. PRAY FOR WISDOM TO PLAN AND EXECUTE GOD-GIVEN PURPOSE
Bible Text: Proverbs 16:9 “A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.”
An architect begins with a vision of what a building should become before construction starts. However, even the best plan requires adjustments as construction progresses. We may make plans for our lives, but God sees the entire journey. Strategic living means planning diligently while remaining sensitive to divine direction. Godly wisdom enables us to establish meaningful goals, adjust when necessary, recognize divine interruptions, and continue moving toward God’s intended purpose.
Prayer
- Father, give me wisdom to plan my future carefully while remaining completely submitted to Your divine direction, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
- Lord, order my steps and redirect every plan that does not agree with Your purpose for my life, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
- Father, give me grace to execute every assignment You have entrusted to me with wisdom, diligence, excellence, and perseverance, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
