Bible Text: Proverbs 3:5-6
5 Trust in Yahweh with all your heart,
and don’t lean on your own understanding.
6 In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.
Psalm 37:5 “Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.”
A child learning to walk holds the hand of a parent because the child trusts that the parent will provide support and direction. The child does not understand every step ahead, but confidence comes from knowing who is holding the hand. Trusting God is similar. It is choosing to depend on His wisdom, power, and faithfulness even when we cannot see the full picture.
Trust is built through relationship. The more we know God, the easier it becomes to surrender our fears and rely on His promises. However, trusting God has a price because it requires releasing control, surrendering human understanding, and believing His plans are better than our own.
Abraham trusted God when he was called to leave his homeland. Noah trusted God when he built an ark before the rain came. Their trust required obedience, patience, and courage. They paid the price of trusting God, and they experienced the fulfilment of His promises.
The price of trusting God is surrendering our desire to control every outcome. Human nature often seeks certainty, but faith requires confidence in God even when circumstances appear unclear.
Trusting God does not mean there will be no challenges. Instead, it means we believe God is greater than every challenge we face. Faith is tested during seasons of waiting, uncertainty, and difficulty. These moments reveal whether we truly depend on God or only trust Him when things are comfortable.
Many times, God’s plans are different from our expectations. Joseph trusted God through betrayal and hardship before seeing his purpose fulfilled. Job trusted God even during suffering and declared his confidence in Him. Their trust was not based on circumstances but on the character of God.
Trust requires patience because God’s timing is perfect. It requires humility because we must acknowledge that God knows more than we do. It requires obedience because true trust produces action.
When we pay the price of trusting God, we exchange anxiety for peace, confusion for direction, and fear for confidence. God honours those who place their complete trust in Him.
A life built on trust in God becomes unshaken because its foundation is not temporary situations but the eternal faithfulness of God.
Action Plans
- Surrender your worries to God: Replace anxiety with prayer and confidence in His promises.
- Study God’s Word consistently: Build your trust by knowing His character and faithfulness.
- Obey God even without full understanding: Take steps of faith according to His guidance.
Covenant Gate Hymnals 51: SS & S 235: MY FAITH LOOKS UP TO THEE,
My faith looks up to Thee,
Thou Lamb of Calvary,
Saviour divine ;
Now hear me while I pray ;
Take all my guilt away ;
Oh, let me from this day
Be wholly Thine.
May Thy rich grace impart
Strength to my fainting heart,
My zeal inspire :
As Thou hast died for me,
Oh, may my love to Thee
Pure, warm, and changeless be—–
A living fire.
While life’s dark maze I tread,
And griefs around me spread,
Be Thou my Guide :
Bid darkness turn to day,
Wipe sorrow’s tears away ;
Nor let me ever stray
From Thee aside.
When ends life’s transient dream—-
When death’s cold, sullen stream
Shall o’er me roll—-
Blest Saviour, then in love,
Fear and distrust remove ;
Oh, bear me safe above—-
Today’s Prayer
1. Lord increase my trust in You beyond every fear and uncertainty.
2. Father help me surrender control and follow Your perfect direction.
3. Lord strengthen others to trust You through every season of life.
