Bible Text: Colossians 3:23-24
23 And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men,
24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.
Galatians 6:9 “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
A building that stands strong through storms is not built with temporary materials or careless effort. It requires a strong foundation, careful planning, and continuous maintenance. Commitment is like that foundation. It is the decision to remain dedicated to a purpose even when challenges, delays, or difficulties arise. Many people begin well, but commitment determines who finishes strong. A seed does not become a harvest overnight; it requires consistent care, patience, and perseverance. Spiritual growth, ministry, relationships, and divine assignments require commitment.
Commitment has a price because it demands consistency beyond emotions. There are moments when feelings change, circumstances become difficult, and results appear delayed. However, a committed person remains faithful because the purpose is greater than temporary challenges. God Himself demonstrates perfect commitment. He remains faithful to His promises despite human failures. Jesus remained committed to His mission of redemption, and His obedience became the foundation of salvation for humanity.
The price of commitment is the willingness to continue when the excitement fades. Commitment is not measured by what we do when everything is convenient; it is revealed by what we do when challenges appear. In our walk with God, commitment means remaining faithful in prayer, obedience, worship, and service. It means refusing to abandon God’s purpose because of temporary struggles.
Joshua demonstrated commitment when he declared that he and his household would serve the Lord. Ruth showed commitment by remaining loyal to Naomi and embracing a new destiny. The apostles demonstrated commitment by continuing the work of Christ despite opposition. Commitment requires sacrifice because it often demands giving priority to what matters most. It requires discipline to maintain spiritual habits, courage to stand for truth, and patience to wait for God’s timing.
Many divine promises are connected to endurance. People who quit too early may never experience the reward attached to perseverance. Commitment keeps us positioned for what God has prepared. A committed believer becomes reliable in the hands of God. Such a person can be trusted with greater responsibilities because their devotion is not controlled by circumstances.
The price of commitment may be high, but the reward is greater. God honours those who remain faithful, steadfast, and devoted to His purpose.

Covenant Gate Hymnals 51: SS & S 235: MY FAITH LOOKS UP TO THEE,
My faith looks up to Thee,
Thou Lamb of Calvary,
Saviour divine ;
Now hear me while I pray ;
Take all my guilt away ;
Oh, let me from this day
Be wholly Thine.
May Thy rich grace impart
Strength to my fainting heart,
My zeal inspire :
As Thou hast died for me,
Oh, may my love to Thee
Pure, warm, and changeless be—–
A living fire.
While life’s dark maze I tread,
And griefs around me spread,
Be Thou my Guide :
Bid darkness turn to day,
Wipe sorrow’s tears away ;
Nor let me ever stray
From Thee aside.
When ends life’s transient dream—-
When death’s cold, sullen stream
Shall o’er me roll—-
Blest Saviour, then in love,
Fear and distrust remove ;
Oh, bear me safe above—-
Today’s Prayer
1. Lord strengthen my commitment and help me remain faithful to You.
2. Father give me endurance to finish every assignment You gave me.
3. Lord strengthen others to remain committed and faithful throughout their journey in Jesus name. Amen.
