Text: Galatians 5:24-26
24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
WALKING IN THE SPIRIT
Memory Verse: Galatians 5:16 “So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.”
In life, there are two ways you can choose to live: According to the flesh This means living based on your own desires, feelings, and that what the world tells you is important. It is like following our impulses, giving in to what feels good now, even if it is not good for us. According to the Spirit, this means being led by the Holy Spirit and living in a way that honours and glorify God. It is choosing to listen to the inner voice of wisdom, peace, and guidance that comes from God.
Walking according to the flesh is like driving with no map, just following wherever the road seems to go. You might end up getting lost or stuck, constantly chasing after things that do not truly satisfy. The car is moving, but it is not really going anywhere well.
On the other hand, walking according to the Spirit is like having a map or Global Positioning System (GPS) to guide you. You are following a clear path that leads you in the right direction. It is still a journey, but you are heading toward peace, joy, and the life that God wants for you.
In Galatians 5:16, Apostle Paul says, “Walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.” This means that when you let the Holy Spirit lead you, your choices will be different. The Spirit will help you say no to things that pull you away from God and guide you to make choices that please Him. When your spirit oversees your soul, your mind, will, and emotions, and your soul is guiding your body, you live in harmony with God. It is like having a team when the leader makes wise decisions, and everyone works together. Your spirit is the leader, your soul follows, and your body obeys.
Walking in the Spirit does not mean you will be perfect, but it means you are choosing God’s way over your own way. Just like a Global Positioning System (GPS) directs you to the right path, the Holy Spirit leads you toward the life God has planned for you, one that is full of peace, purpose, and fulfilment.
Covenant Gate Hymnals 29: ” WHEN WE WALK WITH THE LORD” By Apostle James Abache
- 1. When we walk with the Lord in the light of his Word
What a glory he sheds on our way
While we do his good will, he abides with us still
And with all who will trust and obeyTrust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey2. Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies
But his smile quickly drives it away
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh nor a tear
Can abide while we trust and obey3. Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share
But our toil he doth richly repay
Not a grief nor a loss, not a frown or a cross
But is blest if we trust and obey4. But we never can prove the delights of his love
Until all on the altar we lay
For the favor he shows, and the joy he bestows
Are for them who will trust and obey5. Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at his feet
Or we will walk by his side in the way
What he says we will do, where he sends we will go
Never fear, only trust and obey
