Text: 2 Timothy 3:16-17
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
STRENGTHENING YOUR SPIRIT THROUGH THE SCRIPTURE
Memory Verse: Matthew 4:4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
Reading the Bible is feeding your spirit with healthy food. Just like your body needs food every day to stay strong, your spirit also needs daily nourishment. But instead of eating bread or fruit, your spirit is fed with God’s Word.
Think about what happens when someone eats only junk food or skips meals. They feel tired, weak, and get sick easily. In the same way, if you do not read the Bible, your spirit becomes weak. You might feel confused, afraid, or unsure of what is right. But when you read the Bible every day, your spirit becomes strong and full of life.
When you plant a small tree. You water it every day, expose it to sunlight, and protect it from harm. Slowly, it grows deep roots and strong branches. Reading the Bible is watering your spirit. Each verse is like a drop of water or a beam of sunlight that helps your faith grow. The Bible also gives you direction, like a flashlight in the dark. Life can be confusing, and you do not always know what to do. But the Bible shines light on the right path. It helps you make good choices, avoid danger, and stay close to God.
God speaks to you through the Bible. His words remind you that you are loved, chosen, and never alone. When you read about people like David, Esther, Moses, and Jesus, you will see how God helped them, and we learn that He can help us too. You do not need to read the whole Bible in one day. Just like eating small meals keeps your body healthy, reading a little bit each day keeps your spirit strong. Even one verse can give you strength and peace.
So, pick up your Bible every day. Read a few verses. Think about what God is saying. Ask Him to help you understand. The more you read, the more your spirit will grow strong, like a healthy tree planted by the water.
God’s Word is food for your spirit. Feed on it daily, and you will grow strong in faith.
Covenant Gate Hymnals 40: SS & S 530: “WITH MY SAVIOUR EVER NEAR TO GUIDE ME“
-
- With my Saviour ever near to guide me,
I am safe, whatever may betide me;
From the storm and tempest He will hide me
In the hollow of His hand !
Refrain:
In the hollow … of His hand I . . .
In the hollow … of His hand I . . .
I am safe whatever may betide me,
In the hollow of His hand !
- In His arms of love He doth enfold me ;
Words of peace His voice divine hath told me ;
I am safe, for God Himself doth hold me
In the hollow of His hand !
- He will guard my soul, and leave me never;
From His love no power on earth shall sever;
And I know He’ll keep me now and ever
In the hollow of His hand !
