Text: Titus 3:5-7
5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
MOTIVATION IS NOT TRANSFORMATION
Memory Verse: Psalm 51:10 “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”
Many people believe that being motivated or inspired is enough to change their lives. Motivational talks, books, or videos can make you feel good for a while. They can encourage you to work harder, dream bigger, and try new things. But motivation alone is not enough. It is not the same as true transformation.
Transformation is a deep, lasting change inside and within you. It is not just feeling better or being excited to try again tomorrow. Transformation changes the heart, mind, and soul. It changes who you are and how you live. People can be motivated to do many things like chasing success, wealth, or popularity, but still live far from God. Motivation can make a sinner work harder or be nicer, but it cannot save their soul. A motivated person who does not know Jesus may still face eternal separation from God.
True change comes from salvation. Salvation is more than trying to be good or better. It is about being saved from sin by the blood of Jesus Christ. Jesus died on the cross to pay the price for our sins. When we believe in Him, our soul is renewed. God gives us a new heart, and the Holy Spirit lives inside us to help us live differently.
This is why salvation is not self-help. No matter how motivated we are, we cannot fix our sin by ourselves. We need Jesus. Only Him can truly transform us from the inside out. His love, grace, and power change our lives in ways motivation can never do.
So, while motivation can help you reach goals and feel hopeful, it is not enough for eternal life. The Bible says, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God” Ephesians 2:8. Salvation is a gift, not something you earn by trying harder. If you want true transformation, real change that lasts forever, you must accept Jesus, repent of your sins, and trust Him to save you. Only then will your motivation be backed by God’s power and love, and your life will truly be changed.
COVENANT GATE HYMNALS 102: “FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT, PURE AND BRIGHT”: By Apostle James Abache
-
- The fruit of the Spirit, gentle and kind,
A treasure of grace for all humankind,
Love that is endless, joy that will stay,
Peace that surpasses, night and day.
Refrain:
Fruit of the Spirit, flowing within,
Patience and kindness, freedom from sin,
Goodness and faith, and gentleness too,
Self-control, Lord, we seek from You.
- Patience that endures, through trials and tears,
Kindness that heals all doubts and fears,
Goodness that shines in hearts of the pure,
Faith that stands steadfast, ever secure.
- Gentle, yet strong, the Spirit’s great grace,
Self-control, we seek in this race,
Let love and joy in our hearts remain,
That others may know You through our refrain.
- As branches we grow, and bear fruit so sweet,
The Spirit within us makes life complete,
Transform our hearts and help us to be,
A living example of love so free.
Ending:
The fruit of the Spirit, pure and bright,
Fills us with love and guides us to light.
