SIN AND THE SOUL

A Hardened Heart

SIN AND THE SOUL

Text: Isaiah 59:1–3

1 Behold, the Lord‘s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:

2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

3 For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness.

SIN AND THE SOUL

Memory verse: James 4:17 “If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.”

Sin is a sickness that harms the soul. The soul is the part of us that connects to God, who is full of life and love. When you sin, you hurt that connection, just like a broken phone line stops you from talking to someone you love.

There are two main kinds of sin: Original Sin and Personal Sin.

Original Sin comes from the very beginning, from Adam and Eve. They disobeyed God, and that first sin affected us. It is like a broken part in a car that needs attention from the owner, if it is not attended to on time, it degenerates to affect other parts in the car. This original sin damaged our connection to God. This is why we all need salvation to fix what was broken from the beginning.

Personal Sin is when you deliberately choose to do wrong things yourself. This can be in lying, hurting others, being selfish, or turning away from God. Each of these actions is like putting more dirt or scratches on a mirror. The soul is like a mirror meant to reflect God’s light and love to the world through us. But sin makes the mirror dirty, that it cannot reflect clearly.

When the soul is full of sin, it becomes far from God, who is the source of life, love, and goodness. It is like a plant without sunlight; it begins to wither. If the soul stays away from God forever, is called eternal separation, or “spiritual death.”

But the good news is that in Christ, God offers a way to clean the mirror and reconnect to God. Through Jesus and his sacrifice, you can be forgiven, healed, and made whole again. This is called redemption. It restores the soul’s connection to God and brings it back to life.

Sin is a disease that damage the soul. It started with Original Sin, and we add to it with our own choices. But through God’s love and forgiveness, we can be healed and reunited with Him.

      Trusting only Jesus!
