Text: 2 Corinthians 13:4-6
4 For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you.
5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
6 But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates.
WHAT SHALL WE DO?
Memory Verse: Luke 13:3 “I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.”
In Acts 2, the people asked a powerful question after hearing Peter’s message:
“What shall we do?” It was not just a question; it was the beginning of change. The Word of God had pierced their hearts. They realized they were guilty and needed a Saviour. Peter did not tell them to try harder or be better. He told them to repent and believe in Jesus Christ. This question is still important for us today. When we hear the truth of the gospel, we should not ignore it or cover it with motivational talk. We should let the truth go deep into our hearts and ask ourselves, “What shall I do?”
Let these questions pierce your heart.
Have I truly repented and believed? Being close to the church is not the same as being close to Christ. True repentance means turning away from sin completely. Faith means trusting in Jesus with your whole heart not just knowing about Him but following Him.
Am I willing to speak the hard truths in love? Sometimes we stay quiet because we do not want to offend anyone. But the truth, even when hard, is what the Holy Spirit uses to change lives. If you speak with love and grace, God can use your words to open hearts.
Do I allow the Word to cut me so God can cleanse me? The Bible is like a sharp sword. It shows you where you need to change. It may hurt at first, but that pain is good, it means God is still working in you. You should not run from conviction; but thank God for it.
The gospel is not just about feeling better. It is about being made new. The message of Jesus’ death and resurrection is the only way to salvation. We must not replace it with easy messages that avoid the cross. So again, I ask: What shall we do? Let us respond the same way the people did in Acts: with open hearts, true repentance, and strong faith in Jesus. Let us also be bold in sharing that truth with others.
May the Holy Spirit continue to speak through His Word and lead us closer to Christ every day.
COVENANT GATE HYMNALS 15; SS&S 607 I AM THINE, O LORD, I HAVE HEARD THY VOICE
| 1. I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice, And it told Thy love to me; But I long to rise in the arms of faith, And be closer drawn to Thee. |
|
Refrain Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord, |
|
2. Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord, |
| 3. O the pure delight of a single hour That before Thy throne I spend, When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God, I commune as friend with friend! |
| 4. There are depths of love that I may not know Till I cross the narrow sea; There are heights of joy that I may not reach Till I rest in peace with Thee. |
