THE RESURRECTION OF THE BODY AND THE SOUL’S FULFILMENT

THE RESURRECTION OF THE BODY AND THE SOUL’S FULFILMENT

Text: 1 Corinthians 15:42–44

42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:

43 It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:

44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.

THE RESURRECTION OF THE BODY AND THE SOUL’S FULFILMENT

Memory verse: Matthew 13:43 “Then will the upright be shining as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him give ear.”

We believe that after death, the soul goes to be with God. But that’s not the end of the story. We also believe in something called the General Resurrection. This means that at the end of time, God will bring everyone back to life, not just in spirit, but also in the body.

Your body is one piece, and your soul is another. Right now, when someone dies, their soul goes to God, but their body stays behind. At the end of time, God will put the broken pieces back together. The body and soul will be reunited. But this new body will be special, it will be glorified. That means it will not get sick, grow old, or feel pain. It will be perfect.

This shows a very important idea in your faith in Christ: you are not meant to be just floating souls or just walking bodies. God made people to be both body and soul working together. That is how you are meant to be, and that is how you will be again one day.

Just as a broken toy is fixed and made brand new. That is what God will do for every person, fix what was broken, heal what is hurt, and make everything whole again. Eternal life will not be like sitting on a cloud doing nothing. It will be a full life with joy, peace, and love. You will still be you, but even better without pain, sadness, or death. Revelation 21:4 puts it like this: “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain.”

In Christianity we believe that God’s love will bring complete healing. Not just to your soul, but also to your body. Heaven will be a place where you will live in full joy, in full peace, in full love with the body and soul together, with God forever.

It is like coming home after a long, hard journey and being wrapped in a warm hug that never ends.

COVENANT GATE HYMNALS 27: SS&S 173 THERE’S A LIGHT THAT IS SHINING IN DRKNESS

    1. There’s a light that is shining in darkness,

    While we wait for the dawning of day;

    And it cheers us along on our journey,

    Till the shadows shall vanish away !

    1. So we’ll wait and watch for the dawning,

    The day of eternity blest;

    Then take the wings of the morning,

    And fly away to our rest.

    1. From the sure word the prophets

    have spoken, [the gloom;

    There is light flashing forth through

    For the Scripture can never be broken,

    And the King in His glory will come.

    1. Now we sing ‘mid the darkness and shadows, ;

    And we pray and we watch for the dawn

    Till the Day-star, in glory arising,

    Shall betoken the coming of morn.

    His Second Coming

    1. We are not of the night nor of darkness,

    Let us walk, then, as children of day;

    Our weeping shall be for a moment,

    And our joy shall ne’er vanish away !

Today’s Prayer

    1. Lord, thank You for the promise of a glorified body united with my soul forever.
    2. Father, fill my soul daily with Your love until I am fully united with You in eternity in Jesus’ name. Amen.
    3. May those we love come to know Christ’s resurrection power, finding hope, healing, and eternal joy.
