Text: 2 Corinthians 4:1-7
1 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;
2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.
3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.
6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
THE POWER OF GOD’S LIGHT brings guidance
Memory Verse: Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
Life without God’s light is filled with confusion, misdirection, and unnecessary struggles. Just as a traveler without light risks stumbling in darkness, so does anyone who walks without the illumination of God’s Word. His light provides clarity, direction, and assurance in the journey of life.
God’s Word, revealed through Scripture and the Spirit, acts like a lamp in the night. It shows us where to step, what to avoid, and how to stay on the narrow path that leads to life. Without this guidance, people fall into traps of sin, deception, and wasted years. Many chases worldly wisdom, but it cannot provide safe direction, the light of God’s truth is the only sure compass.
Jesus declared that He is the Light of the world John 8:12. This means that walking with Him keeps us from stumbling into darkness. Through prayer, meditation, and obedience, you can receive constant illumination for decisions, relationships, and daily living.
The beauty of divine guidance is that it not only shows the path but also reveals hidden dangers. God’s light warns against choices that may seem appealing but lead to destruction. His light also encourages us to take bold steps forward, knowing He leads to victory.
To enjoy the fullness of life, you must submit to the light of God’s Word. It will never mislead but will guide us safely into destiny and eternal glory.
COVENANT GATE HYMNALS 27: SS&S 173 THERE’S A LIGHT THAT IS SHINING IN DARKNESS
- There’s a light that is shining in darkness,
While we wait for the dawning of day;
And it cheers us along on our journey,
Till the shadows shall vanish away !
- So we’ll wait and watch for the dawning,
The day of eternity blest;
Then take the wings of the morning,
And fly away to our rest.
- From the sure word the prophets
have spoken, [the gloom;
There is light flashing forth through
For the Scripture can never be broken,
And the King in His glory will come.
- Now we sing ‘mid the darkness and shadows, ;
And we pray and we watch for the dawn
Till the Day-star, in glory arising,
Shall betoken the coming of morn.
His Second Coming
- We are not of the night nor of darkness,
Let us walk, then, as children of day;
Our weeping shall be for a moment,
And our joy shall ne’er vanish away !
