A New Heart

A New Heart

A New Heart

Text: 2 Corinthians 5:15–17

15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.

17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Memory Verse: Ezekiel 36:26 “A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.”

When a machine’s engine is completely damaged, a mechanic does not simply polish the exterior or repair small parts, he replaces the engine entirely. Only then can the machine function properly again. God’s solution to the fallen human heart is not mere improvement but complete transformation.

Humanity’s natural heart has been affected by sin. It is inclined toward selfishness, disobedience, and separation from God. No amount of outward reform, religious effort, or moral discipline can fully correct this condition. What is needed is a new heart.

In Ezekiel 36:26, God promises to give His people a new heart and a new spirit. This promise points to the transforming work of salvation. When you come to God in repentance and faith, God replaces the hardened heart with a tender and responsive one.

A new heart produces new desires. Instead of resisting God, it seeks Him. Instead of loving sin, it longs for righteousness. The inner life begins to change because God’s Spirit now works within you.

The New Testament confirms this transformation. 2 Corinthians 5:17 declares that anyone who is in Christ becomes a new creation. The old life passes away, and a new life begins.

This new heart allows you to experience a renewed relationship with God. It enables you to walk in obedience, grow spiritually, and reflect God’s character.

A new heart is therefore the foundation of true spiritual life. It is God’s gracious gift to those who surrender their lives to Him.

Action Plans

  • Surrender your life completely to God and receive the new life He offers.
  • Nourish your new heart through regular prayer, worship, and study of the Scripture.
  • Allow the Holy Spirit to guide your thoughts and actions daily.

COVENANT GATE HYMNALS 131 Break the Chains, O Lord (Tune: Amazing Grace) By Apostle James Abache

  1. O Lord, we come, our hearts contrite,
    From darkness into day;
    Break every chain and set us free,
    And guide us in Your way.

Refrain

Break the chains, O Lord, we pray,
And drive all fear away;
By Your blood we overcome,
And walk in endless day.

  1. The sins of old, the voice of shame,
    Are silenced by Your Word;
    Through Jesus’ blood we overcome,
    Our victory is secured.

  1. New songs we sing, new paths we tread,
    For Christ has won the fight;
    The grave is torn, new life is born,
    We walk as children bright.

Today’s Prayer
