Text: : Luke 1:26–38
26 And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,
27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary.
28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.
29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.
30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.
31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus.
32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?
35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
36 And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.
37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.
38 And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.
Hebrews 1:14
14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?
ANGELS AS MESSENGERS
- Memory Verse: Psalm 91:11 “For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.”Angels are ministering spirits appointed by God to serve as messengers, helpers, and agents of His divine will. They operate under God’s authority and are assigned to assist you in fulfilling God’s purpose. Angels do not act independently; they carry out God’s instructions and communicate His messages according to His plan.
Angels perform several important communication roles. First, they deliver messages from God, providing instruction, revelation, and divine announcements. Gabriel’s message to Mary revealed God’s plan for the birth of Jesus. Second, angels provide direction, guiding you during critical moments and helping you to align with God’s will. Third, angels enforce divine will, helping to carry out God’s purposes, including protection, intervention, and spiritual assistance.
Angels did not replace the Scripture or Christ. Their communication always agrees with God’s Word and supports His divine authority. Angels are servants, not sources of truth. Jesus Christ remains the Living Word, and the Scripture remains the highest authority. Angelic messages must always be tested and confirmed by the Scripture.
Angels are like authorized royal messengers sent by a king. They do not create their own message but faithfully deliver the king’s instructions. Their authority comes from the king, and their purpose is to ensure the king’s will is carried out.
Angels continue to serve God’s people today by assisting, protecting, and supporting divine assignments. However, you must focus on God, not angels, because angels serve God’s purpose, not replace His authority.
Action Plans:
- Maintain obedience and alignment with God’s Word to remain under divine protection.
- Pray for discernment regarding spiritual communication.
- Focus on Christ and the Scripture as the highest authority.
COVENANT GATE HYMNALS 51: SS & S 235: MY FAITH LOOKS UP TO THEE,
- My faith looks up to Thee,
Thou Lamb of Calvary,
Saviour divine ;
Now hear me while I pray ;
Take all my guilt away ;
Oh, let me from this day
Be wholly Thine.
- May Thy rich grace impart
Strength to my fainting heart,
My zeal inspire :
As Thou hast died for me,
Oh, may my love to Thee
Pure, warm, and changeless be—–
A living fire.
- While life’s dark maze I tread,
And griefs around me spread,
Be Thou my Guide :
Bid darkness turn to day,
Wipe sorrow’s tears away ;
Nor let me ever stray
From Thee aside.
- When ends life’s transient dream—-
When death’s cold, sullen stream
Shall o’er me roll—-
Blest Saviour, then in love,
Fear and distrust remove ;
Oh, bear me safe above—-
Today’s Prayer
