Bible Text: Proverbs 16:25–27
25 There is a way that appears to be right,
but in the end it leads to death.
26 The appetite of laborers works for them;
their hunger drives them on.
27 A scoundrel plots evil,
and on their lips it is like a scorching fire.
Memory Verse:
Jeremiah 10:23 “O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.”
A person using a faulty compass may travel confidently yet move farther from the destination. Spiritual blindness causes people to feel certain about wrong paths because they lack God’s light and divine direction. One dangerous consequence of spiritual blindness is walking confidently in the wrong direction. Spiritually blind people often believe they are making correct choices while unknowingly moving away from God’s will and purpose. Because spiritual discernment is lacking, wrong paths may appear attractive, wise, or harmless.
The Bible warns that some ways seem right to people but eventually lead to destruction. Human reasoning, emotions, pride, and worldly influences can deceive people into believing they are following the truth when they are actually drifting away from God. Spiritual blindness distorts judgment and weakens the ability to recognize danger clearly. Many people continue confidently in sinful lifestyles, unhealthy relationships, false teachings, or harmful decisions because spiritual understanding is absent. They may reject correction, ignore warnings, and resist godly counsel while believing they are right. Such confidence without divine guidance often produces painful consequences.
Believers can also become spiritually misdirected when they neglect prayer, Scripture study, and obedience to the Holy Spirit. A spiritually careless believer may continue religious activities outwardly while inwardly moving away from God’s direction. Without spiritual light, it becomes difficult to recognize error and make wise choices consistently. Satan uses deception to keep people comfortable on wrong paths. He blinds hearts from recognizing truth and encourages self-dependence rather than reliance on God. Pride often prevents spiritually blind individuals from admitting mistakes or seeking correction.
However, God lovingly guides those who humble themselves and seek His direction sincerely. Through prayer, obedience, studying Scripture, and fellowship with the Holy Spirit, you receive wisdom and discernment. God’s light exposes wrong paths and leads His children safely in righteousness. Jesus Christ is the true shepherd who leads His people in the right way. Those who follow Him walk in spiritual clarity and wisdom rather than confusion and deception.
Action Plans
- Seek God’s guidance daily before making important spiritual and personal decisions.
- Accept godly correction humbly whenever spiritual errors or wrong directions become revealed.
- Study Scripture consistently for discernment, wisdom, guidance, and righteous spiritual understanding.
Covenant Gate Hymnals 29: SS&S 642: WHEN WE WALK WITH THE LORD
What a glory he sheds on our way
While we do his good will, he abides with us still
And with all who will trust and obeyTrust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey
Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies
But his smile quickly drives it away
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh nor a tear
Can abide while we trust and obey
Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share
But our toil he doth richly repay
Not a grief nor a loss, not a frown or a cross
But is blest if we trust and obey
But we never can prove the delights of his love
Until all on the altar we lay
For the favor he shows, and the joy he bestows
Are for them who will trust and obey
Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at his feet
Or we will walk by his side in the way
What he says we will do, where he sends we will go
Never fear, only trust and obey
