Text: : Deuteronomy 18:10–12

¹⁰ There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch.

¹¹ Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.

¹² For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord: and because of these abominations the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee.

COUNTERFEIT & DESTRUCTIVE CHANNELS: Occult & Forbidden Channels

• Memory Verse: Isaiah 8:19 “And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?”Occult and forbidden channels are unauthorized, deceptive, and corrupt sources of spiritual communication that operate outside God’s authority. These channels attempt to access spiritual knowledge, power, or guidance through means that God has strictly forbidden. Rather than bringing truth and protection, they open doors to deception, confusion, and spiritual bondage.

  These forbidden practices include:

  • Mediums: Individuals claiming to communicate with spirits of the dead.
  • Necromancy: Attempting to contact or receive guidance from the dead.
  • Astrology: Seeking spiritual direction or destiny through stars or celestial systems.
  • Spirit guides: Entities presented as helpers but not sent by God.
  • Channelling: Allowing spiritual entities to speak or communicate through a person.

  These are open access points to deception and bondage. Such practices bypass God’s authority and expose individuals to spiritual deception and manipulation. They may appear helpful or enlightening, but they ultimately lead away from God’s truth and protection. God forbids these channels because they connect people to sources that oppose His will. God desires His people to seek Him directly through authorized channels such as His Word, the Holy Spirit, prayer, and Christ. These provide the truth, safety, and divine guidance without deception.

  Occult practices are like accessing a restricted system through unauthorized entry points. While access may be gained, it exposes the user to danger, corruption, and loss. Only authorized access provides safety and protection.

  Action Plans:

  • Reject all occult and forbidden practices completely.
  • Seek guidance only through God’s Word and the Holy Spirit.
  • Strengthen your spiritual life through prayer and obedience.

1. When we walk with the Lord in the light of his Word
   What a glory he sheds on our way
   While we do his good will, he abides with us still

Today’s Prayer

1. Father, protect me from every occult and deceptive spiritual influence.
2. Lord, help me seek guidance only through Your authorized channels.
3. Holy Spirit, guard my life and lead me in truth and spiritual safety.
