Bible Reading: 1 Kings 18:30–39
30 And Elijah said unto all the people, Come near unto me. And all the people came near unto him. And he repaired the altar of the LORD that was broken down.
31 And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, unto whom the word of the LORD came, saying, Israel shall be thy name:
32 And with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD: and he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed.
33 And he put the wood in order, and cut the bullock in pieces, and laid him on the wood, and said, Fill four barrels with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice, and on the wood.
34 And he said, Do it the second time. And they did it the second time. And he said, Do it the third time. And they did it the third time.
35 And the water ran round about the altar; and he filled the trench also with water.
36 And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word.
37 Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the LORD God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again.
38 Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.
39 And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The LORD, he is the God; the LORD, he is the God.
Memory verse: Joshua 24:27: “And Joshua said unto all the people, Behold, this stone shall be a witness unto us; for it hath heard all the words of the LORD which he spake unto us: it shall be therefore a witness unto you, lest ye deny your God.”
In the Scripture, altars are not just stones, structures, or religious objects, they are spiritual platforms where covenants are enacted, voices are activated, and destinies are shaped. Every altar speaks Joshua 24:27. Some speak blessings, others speak bondage. Some release light, while others release darkness. Life’s battles are not always fought with swords or intelligence; often, they are battles of altar against altar, voice against voice, covenant against covenant.
In the days of Elijah, Israel was torn between two altars, the altar of Jehovah and the altar of Baal. The nation remained confused until Elijah raised a righteous altar and challenged the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel. It was not a battle of numbers, but a battle of altars. When Elijah rebuilt the Lord’s altar and offered sacrifice, fire fell, proving that the true God answers by fire. The altar of God swallowed the altar of Baal, altar against altar.
In the story of Gideon, his breakthrough did not begin on the battlefield; it began when he destroyed his father’s altar of Baal and raised a new altar to the Lord Judges 6:25–26. God did not allow him to fight Midian until the altar-level conflict was settled. Spiritual victory always begins at the altar.
Today, many destinies are resisted not by physical enemies but by ancient altars speaking against progress, marriage, health, ministry, and prosperity. These are systems of darkness powered by covenants, sacrifices, and repeated patterns. But the good news is that no evil altar can withstand a superior altar. The altar of the blood of Jesus, the altar of worship, the altar of prayer, and the altar of obedience are weapons that overthrow altars of darkness.
When you pray, sacrifice, worship, or make prophetic decrees, you are raising altars that speak louder than any negative voice. God’s altar always carries superior fire and eternal covenant.
To win the battles of life, you must strengthen your altar with sacrifice, purity, consistency, and covenant alignment. When the altar of God in your life is alive, active, and maintained, every opposing altar collapses under divine fire.
Remember: Altars do not fall by silence; they fall by stronger altars. Raise God’s altar, enforce His covenant, and let the fire of the Lord answer.
COVENANT GATE HYMNALS 29: SS&S 642:: WHEN WE WALK WITH THE LORD
- Prayer of Deliverance From Ancient Altars
Judges 6:25 “And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said unto him, Take thy father’s young bullock, even the second bullock of seven years old, and throw down the altar of Baal that thy father hath, and cut down the grove that is by it.”
Before Gideon could bring national deliverance, God commanded him to confront and destroy the ancestral altar resisting his destiny. Ancient altars operate through longstanding covenants and generational agreements. Until they are overthrown, destiny remains limited. God requires believers to confront these altars through obedience, prayer, holiness, and sacrifice. Victory begins when the wrong altar falls.
Prayer: Lord, by Your fire, dismantle every ancestral altar resisting my progress. Let every hidden covenant collapse and divine freedom arise for me and my household in Jesus’ name. Amen.
- Raising a Godly Altar
Genesis 8:20 “And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.”
Noah’s first action after the flood was raising an altar, establishing a fresh covenant for a new season. God responds to altars built in faith. They speak mercy, protection, and breakthrough. Raising a godly altar aligns you with divine favor and counters altars of darkness forming accusations. A living altar establishes God’s presence as your covering.
Prayer: Father, empower me to raise strong altars of prayer, worship, and obedience that silence every evil voice and establish Your covenant in my life in Jesus’ name. Amen.
- Prayer to Silence Evil Voices
Psalm 27:6: “And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD.”
Sacrifice is a spiritual language that silences negative voices speaking failure, delay, or defeat. Every altar carries a voice, but joy-filled sacrifice empowers divine intervention. When you engage godly sacrifice, you override demonic pronouncements and enforce heaven’s verdict. Victory manifests when God’s voice becomes the loudest expression over your destiny.
Prayer: Lord, silence every evil voice speaking against my rising. Let Your altar overshadow and dominate every dark utterance targeting my destiny in Jesus’ name. Amen.
- Prayers to Break Generational Patterns
Lamentations 5:7 “Our fathers have sinned and are not; and we have borne their iniquities.”
Some struggles persist because of inherited spiritual patterns rooted in ancestral altars. These patterns recycle failure, fear, poverty, or oppression. By invoking the superior altar of Jesus’ blood, generational limitations break. Believers must consciously renounce these past agreements and declare a new order in Christ.
Prayer: By the blood of Jesus, I disconnect from every generational altar enforcing old patterns. I enter a new cycle of divine blessing and victory in Jesus’ name. Amen.
- Pray for Victory Over Household Altars
Micah 7:6 “A man’s enemies are the men of his own house.”
Household altars are among the strongest because they are familiar and ancient. They fight identity, marriage, progress, and calling. Gideon confronted his father’s altar before confronting national enemies. Until household altars are subdued, larger breakthroughs remain limited.
Prayer: Lord, expose and destroy every household altar opposing my life. Let Your fire consume every familiar spirit working against my destiny in Jesus’ name. Amen.
- Proclaim The Blood of Jesus as Superior Altar
Hebrews 12:24 “And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.”
The blood of Jesus speaks mercy, deliverance, and breakthrough. It overrides every evil altar’s accusations. When applied through prayer, it silences condemnation, breaks curses, and enforces divine verdicts. No altar can stand the covenant power of Christ’s blood.
Prayer: I declare that the Blood of Jesus is and the Altar of the sacrifice as the superior Altar.Blood of Jesus, speak better things over my life. Override every accusation and silence all demonic altars contending with my destiny in Jesus’ name. Amen.
- Call down Fire Against Evil Altars
1 Kings 18:38 “Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.”
Elijah’s victory came not by argument but by fire. Divine fire exposes, purges, and destroys altars of wickedness. When God’s fire falls, hidden operations are revealed and demonic altars collapse. There is no darkness fire cannot confront.
Prayer: O God of Elijah, let Your fire fall and consume every altar resisting my progress and divine assignment in Jesus’ name. Amen.
- Prayers to Break Witchcraft Altars
Exodus 22:18 “Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.”
Witchcraft altars manipulate, control, and monitor destinies. They release confusion, setbacks, and spiritual attacks. God’s command reveals that such operations must not be tolerated. Prayer dismantles witchcraft activities and restores clarity, protection, and freedom.
Prayer: Lord, scatter every witchcraft altar targeting my destiny. Break their influence and restore divine order in my life in Jesus’ name. Amen.
- Pray for Freedom From Monitoring Altars
Numbers 23:23 “Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought!”
Monitoring altars track progress to enforce delays. Balaam attempted to curse Israel through enchantment but failed. When God shields you, no monitoring spirit can succeed. Such altars must be destroyed to restore destiny speed.
Prayer: By Your authority, Lord, blind every monitoring altar watching my progress. Let Your shield surround my life continually in Jesus’ name. Amen.
- Pray for Destiny Restoration
Joel 2:25 “And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.”
Altars of darkness steal years, opportunities, and blessings. But God’s altar restores lost seasons supernaturally. When divine restoration is activated, delay becomes acceleration, and loss becomes abundant recovery.
Prayer: Father, restore every lost year stolen by evil altars. Let divine restoration overflow in every area of my life in Jesus’ name. Amen.
- Break that Altar of Delay
Daniel 10:12 Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words. 13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.
Delay is often enforced at spiritual gates. The prince of Persia resisted Daniel’s answer. Such altars target breakthroughs at the edge of manifestation. Persistent prayer dismantles delay and commands release.
Prayer: Lord, break every altar enforcing delay over my answers. Let angelic intervention release every pending blessing now in Jesus’ name. Amen.
- Pray for Victory Over Territorial Altars
Deuteronomy 12:2 Ye shall utterly destroy all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree: 3 And ye shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire; and ye shall hew down the graven images of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place.
Territorial altars govern environments, influencing behaviour, culture, and outcomes. Breaking their influence establishes God’s rule in regions, homes, and workplaces. Believers are called to legislate spiritually over their territory.
Prayer: Lord, overthrow every territorial altar working in my environment. Establish Your reign and dominion around me in Jesus’ name. Amen.
- Pray to Establishing Covenant Protection
Psalm 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
Godly altars secure divine covering. Dwelling under God’s shadow provides protection from attacks, arrows, and evil projections. Maintaining a living altar keeps supernatural security active.
Prayer: Father, cover me with Your shadow. Let covenant protection surround my family and destiny continually in Jesus’ name. Amen.
- Pray to Break Altars of Marital Delay
Genesis 24:14 “And let it come to pass, that the damsel to whom I shall say, Let down thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may drink; and she shall say, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: let the same be she that thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac; and thereby shall I know that thou hast shewed kindness unto my master.”
Some altars hinder marital settlement, causing rejection or cycles of disappointment. Your prayers tonight will establish divine alignment and remove spiritual resistance to God-ordained relationships.
Prayer: Lord, break every altar delaying me, my daughter, son, siblings, and loved ones from marital settlement, align us OH LORD with Your appointed covenant relationships in Jesus’ name. Amen.
DECLARATION:
Lift your hands as we make this declaration together:
In the name of Jesus Christ, the risen Lord, I stand today upon the altar of the Living God, the altar established by the blood of Jesus, the altar that speaks better things than the blood of Abel. By this divine altar, I declare that every other altar; visible or invisible, ancient or recent, raised in opposition to God’s purpose for your lives, loses its power today.
I decree that according to Numbers 23:23, no enchantment, no divination, no incantation, no negative decree shall prosper against you. What God has spoken concerning you shall stand. I invoke the covenant promise of Joel 2:25 that: every year, opportunity, resource, relationship, and blessing the enemy tried to swallow is restored by the hand of God.
I declare, like Daniel, that every delay caused by unseen resistance is broken. The angels of God advance on your behalf, and every “prince of Persia” resisting your answers is overthrown. By the authority of Deuteronomy 12:2–3, I pull down every high place, break every idol, scatter every evil structure, and silence every contrary voice raised against your destiny.
As you dwell in the secret place of the Most High, you are covered, you are preserved, you are hidden under the shadow of the Almighty. And like Abraham’s servant in Genesis 24:14, I declare that God’s divine appointments will locate you. The right people, the right opportunities, and the right doors will respond to you by the favour of God.
Today, the altar of Christ speaks over your families, your finances, your health, your businesses, your ministry, and your destiny.
The altar of the Lamb rises against every contrary altar.
The altar of truth rises against every altar of lies.
The altar of blessing rises against every altar of curses.
The altar of light rises against every altar of darkness.
I declare that: you are covered.
You are victorious.
You are unstoppable.
You are rising.
You are advancing,
You are conquering
IN JESUS’ NAME! Amen!
