Text: John 16:7-11
7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. 8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 Of sin, because they believe not on me; 10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; 11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged
DIAGNOSIS BEFORE RELIEF
Memory Verse: Psalm 107:20 “He sent out his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave.”
If you go to a doctor because you have been feeling pain for a long time. Instead of checking what is really wrong, the doctor just gives you more and more pain by giving you pain relief medicine. For a while, you feel better, and you thank the doctor. But the pain keeps coming back and maybe even gets worse. Why? Because the doctor never found the real cause of the pain.
This is what happens when people hear God’s Word, but no one helps them see the real problem in their lives. Sometimes, people want to hear only comforting words, but the truth is that healing starts with knowing what’s wrong. The Bible says in Psalm 107:20, “He sent His word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.” God’s Word does more than just make you feel better; it corrects you, shows you your mistakes, and heals your heart.
God’s Word is like that wise doctor who gave medicine, after finding out what is causing the illness. Sometimes, this means listening carefully to the pain and understanding what it means. In the same way, God’s Word first reveals the pain or the sin inside us. It brings it to light so that it can be fixed. If we ignore the pain or cover it with quick comforts, we are only hiding the problem. The real sickness stays inside and can grow worse. That’s why spiritual leaders and believers must not just offer easy messages that make people feel good but do not help them change.
True healing begins when you allow God’s Word to diagnose your heart. This might be uncomfortable because it shows you your fault and what needs to be fixed. But like a doctor’s careful diagnosis, this is the first step to real relief and lasting health.
Do not be afraid of the truth that exposes your pain. It is the key to true healing. Trust God’s Word to reveal what needs fixing and lead you to complete recovery.
Covenant Gate Hymnals 1; SS&S 1167: ” BE THE MATTER WHAT IT MAY, ALWAYS SPEAK THE TRUTH“
1. Be the matter what it may, always speak the truth;
Whether at your work or play, always speak the truth
Never from this rule depart, grave it
deeply on your heart,
Written ’tis upon your chart :
” Always speak the truth ! ”
2. There’s a charm in honesty, always
speak the truth ; speak the truth ;
There is meanness in a lie; always
He is but a coward slave, who, a present
pain to waive,
Stoops to falsehood; then, be brave;
Always speak the truth.
3. When you’re wrong, the folly own,
always speak the truth;
There’s a triumph to be won, always
speak the truth ;
He who speaks with lying tongue adds
to wrong a greater wrong;
Then, with courage true and strong,
Always speak the truth.
