Text: Titus 2:1–2
1 But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:
2 That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.
ey that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
Ending Spiritual Famine: Sound Teaching and Discipleship
Memory Verse: 2 Timothy 4:2 “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.”
Spiritual famine ends when we return to sound teaching and true discipleship. The Word of God is spiritual nourishment, and when it is taught with accuracy and anointing, souls are strengthened. Without sound doctrine, faith becomes weak, convictions fade, and deception spreads easily. In Acts 2:42, the early church “continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship.” This was their secret to consistent revival. They were not built on opinions, excitement, or charisma, but on truth. True discipleship is not about following personalities but following Christ through His Word. Teachers who exalt themselves lead people into bondage, but those who exalt Christ lead them into freedom.
Sound doctrine is the backbone of spiritual maturity. Apostle Paul warned in 2 Timothy 4:3–4 that a time would come when people would not endure sound teaching but would gather teachers who tell them what they want to hear. That prophecy is being fulfilled today. When entertainment replaces the truth, believers grow malnourished and drift into error. Only the truth of the Scripture can anchor us in turbulent times. Discipleship means learning and living like Jesus. It is not just attending church but being trained in obedience, humility, and faith. In Matthew 28:19–20, Jesus commanded His followers to “make disciples of all nations… teaching them to observe all things.” This is the cure for ignorance and instability in the church. A well-fed disciple becomes a fruitful believer who can also feed others.
Sound teaching sharpens discernment, builds character, and produces spiritual depth. It helps you recognize falsehood and remain steadfast in trials. When a church is filled with truth, deception cannot thrive. Just as healthy food builds strong bodies, pure doctrine builds strong spirits. To end spiritual famine, you must hunger for the truth and honour those who teach it faithfully. Surround yourself with teachers who magnify Christ and point you to the Scripture, not themselves. Study the Word daily and let it shape your thoughts, words, and actions. Where truth is taught and obeyed, the famine of the soul will end, and revival will flow like rivers again.

COVENANT GATE HYMNALS 99 “FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT’S POWER” By Apostle James Abache
- Not with wine that leads to excess,
But with the Spirit’s power,
We surrender, Lord, our hearts,
To You each moment, hour.
Fill us, O Lord, we humbly pray,
Guide us in Your holy way,
Let Your wind blow, and we’ll obey,
Spirit, fill us every day.
Refrain:
Fill us, fill us, Holy Spirit,
Take control, we yield to You,
With each breath, we seek Your presence,
To live in all we say and do.
- Like a ship that seeks the breeze,
We stretch our sails to You,
Under Your guidance, let us go,
Wherever You lead us through.
Not by our strength, but by Your might,
We walk by faith, not by sight,
In Your grace, we find our light,
Spirit, fill us, make us right.
- To the call of the Spirit’s wind,
We choose to surrender, Lord,
In Your love, our hearts are freed,
To follow Your every word.
Guide us, lead us, as we yield,
To Your presence, our hearts sealed,
Holy Spirit, let us feel,
Your control, our lives to heal.
Outro:
Fill us, Spirit, fill us, we pray,
Lead us, guide us, every day.
