FORMS OF PRAYER COMMUNICATION Groaning

Text: Romans 8:24–27

24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?

25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

FORMS OF PRAYER COMMUNICATION Groaning

  • Memory Verse: Psalm 34:17 “The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.”Groaning is a deep form of prayer communication that occurs when words are insufficient to express the burdens, desires, or needs of the heart. It is a spiritual expression where the Holy Spirit helps the you communicate beyond human language. These groanings may be silent or expressed with deep emotion, reflecting intense spiritual connection and dependence on God.

    Groaning often happens during moments of deep spiritual burden, urgency, or intercession. It reflects a condition where the human spirit connects deeply with the Holy Spirit, allowing Him to communicate God’s will through you. This form of prayer is not driven by logic but by spiritual sensitivity. It allows the Holy Spirit to pray accurately according to God’s perfect purpose.

    Groaning strengthens spiritual alignment and releases divine intervention. Even when the mind does not understand, the spirit communicates effectively with God. This assures you that God understands your needs even when you cannot express them clearly.

    Groaning is like a child crying deeply in the presence of a loving parent. Even without clear words, the parent understands the child’s need and responds with care. God understands the spiritual groanings inspired by the Holy Spirit and responds according to His will.

    Action Plans:

    • Allow the Holy Spirit to lead your prayer beyond words when burdened.
    • Spend time in quiet surrender during deep prayer.
    • Trust God to understand and respond to your spirit-led communication.

COVENANT GATE HYMNALS 21: SS&S 873: BLESSED ASSURANCE, JESUS IS MINE

  1. Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine;

Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!

Heir of salvation, purchase of God,

Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

Refrain

This is my story, this is my song,

Praising my Savior all the day long.

This is my story, this is my song,

     Praising my Saviour all the day long.

  1. Perfect submission, perfect delight,

Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;

Angels descending, bring from above

Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

  1. Perfect submission, all is at rest,

I in my Savior am happy and blest;

Watching and waiting, looking above,

Filled with His goodness, lost in His love
