FORMS OF SPIRITUAL COMMUNICATION: Visions

  • Memory Verse: Habakkuk 2:2 “Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.”Visions are a powerful form of spiritual communication through which God reveals His will, direction, and purpose. Unlike dreams, which occur during sleep, visions often occur while a person is awake or in a state of spiritual awareness. Visions may appear as mental images, spiritual pictures, or supernatural experiences that communicate divine messages clearly and purposefully.God uses visions to provide instruction, warning, encouragement, and direction. In Cornelius’ vision, God gave specific instruction that led to divine connection and transformation. In Paul’s vision, God directed him to Macedonia, revealing the next step in his assignment. These examples show that visions often communicate God’s timing, location, and purpose.

    Dreams are common; interpretation is critical. Likewise, visions require spiritual discernment and proper interpretation. The meaning of a vision must align with the Scripture and be confirmed through prayer and the peace of the Holy Spirit. Misinterpretation can lead to confusion, but correct interpretation brings clarity and alignment with God’s will.

    Visions are like divine pictures shown to the spirit. Just as a map provides visual direction to a destination, a vision provides spiritual direction and clarity about God’s plan.

    Visions strengthen spiritual confidence and help you understand God’s purpose. However, spiritual maturity, humility, and discernment are necessary to receive and interpret visions correctly.

    • Action Plans:
    • Pray for spiritual sensitivity and discernment to understand visions.
    • Record visions immediately and reflect on their meaning.
    • Confirm every vision with the Scripture and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

COVENANT GATE HYMNALS 51: SS & S 235: MY FAITH LOOKS UP TO THEE,

  1. My faith looks up to Thee,

Thou Lamb of Calvary,

Saviour divine ;

Now hear me while I pray ;

Take all my guilt away ;

Oh, let me from this day

Be wholly Thine.

  1. May Thy rich grace impart

Strength to my fainting heart,

My zeal inspire :

As Thou hast died for me,

Oh, may my love to Thee

Pure, warm, and changeless be—–

A living fire.

  1. While life’s dark maze I tread,

And griefs around me spread,

Be Thou my Guide :

Bid darkness turn to day,

Wipe sorrow’s tears away ;

Nor let me ever stray

From Thee aside.

  1. When ends life’s transient dream—-

When death’s cold, sullen stream

Shall o’er me roll—-

Blest Saviour, then in love,

Fear and distrust remove ;

Oh, bear me safe above—-

Today’s Prayer

  1. Father, grant me spiritual clarity to understand every vision You reveal to me.
  2. Lord, help me interpret visions correctly according to Your Word and will.
  3. Holy Spirit, guide me and protect me from misinterpreting spiritual communication.
