GOD DESIRES RELATIONSHIP, NOT JUST INFORMATION

Bible Text: John 10:25–28

Jesus answered them,
“I told you, and you don’t believe. The works that I do in my Father’s name, these testify about me.
But you don’t believe, because you are not of my sheep, as I told you.
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.
I give eternal life to them. They will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.

Memory Verse: Romans 8:14 “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”

God’s desire is not merely to give instructions or information, but to build a living relationship with His people. Hearing God’s voice is not based on intelligence, effort, or spiritual techniques alone, it flows from belonging to Him. Communication is the natural result of relationship. Just as close friends recognize each other’s voices easily, when you walk closely with God you learn to recognize His voice clearly.

Hearing flows from belonging. Jesus said, “My sheep hear My voice,” showing that identity and relationship come first. The sheep hear because they belong to the Shepherd. In the same way, spiritual communication flows from connection, trust, and fellowship with God. God speaks to guide, strengthen, and nurture those who belong to Him.

Relationship with God is built through prayer, worship, obedience, and time in His Word. As you grow closer to Him, your spiritual sensitivity increases. God’s voice becomes familiar, bringing peace, clarity, and assurance. Hearing God is not meant to be difficult or mysterious; it is the natural privilege of those who walk in relationship with Him.

Hearing God is like a child recognizing the voice of a loving parent in a crowded place. The child does not struggle to recognize the voice because of relationship and familiarity. In the same way, you will recognize God’s voice through ongoing fellowship.

God desires ongoing communication, not occasional contact. His voice provides direction, comfort, correction, and encouragement. Relationship ensures clarity, confidence, and spiritual stability.

Action Plans:

Develop daily fellowship with God through prayer and the Scripture.
Prioritize relationship over seeking information.
Respond in obedience to strengthen spiritual connection.

COVENANT GATE HYMNALS 15; SS&S 607 I AM THINE, O LORD, I HAVE HEARD THY VOICE

1.    I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith,
And be closer drawn to Thee.
         Refrain

         Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
       To the cross where Thou hast died;
         Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
     To Thy precious, bleeding side.

2.    Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
By the power of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine.
3.    O the pure delight of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God,
I commune as friend with friend!
4.    There are depths of love that I may not know
Till I cross the narrow sea;
There are heights of joy that I may not reach
Till I rest in peace with Thee.

Prayers:

Father, draw me into deeper relationship and fellowship with You.
Lord, help me recognize and follow Your voice faithfully.
Holy Spirit, strengthen my connection and sensitivity to God always.
