God Needs Your Heart

Text: : Ezekiel 36:24–38

24 For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.

25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.

26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

28 And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.

29 I will also save you from all your uncleannesses: and I will call for the corn, and will increase it, and lay no famine upon you.

30 And I will multiply the fruit of the tree, and the increase of the field, that ye shall receive no more reproach of famine among the heathen.

31 Then shall ye remember your own evil ways, and your doings that were not good, and shall lothe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations.

32 Not for your sakes do I this, saith the Lord God, be it known unto you: be ashamed and confounded for your own ways, O house of Israel.

33 Thus saith the Lord God; In the day that I shall have cleansed you from all your iniquities I will also cause you to dwell in the cities, and the wastes shall be builded.

34 And the desolate land shall be tilled, whereas it lay desolate in the sight of all that passed by.

35 And they shall say, This land that was desolate is become like the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are become fenced, and are inhabited.

36 Then the heathen that are left round about you shall know that I the Lord build the ruined places, and plant that that was desolate: I the Lord have spoken it, and I will do it.

37 Thus saith the Lord God; I will yet for this be enquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them; I will increase them with men like a flock.

38 As the holy flock, as the flock of Jerusalem in her solemn feasts; so shall the waste cities be filled with flocks of men: and they shall know that I am the Lord.

Memory Verse: 1 Samuel 16:7 “But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.”When God sent Samuel to anoint a new king after King Saul in 1 Samuel 16:1, Samuel evaluated Jesse’s sons by appearance; height, strength, and outward stature. But God corrected him. Heaven does not grade by looks, status, or performance. God looks at the heart.

The heart is the control center of life, your thoughts, emotions, desires, motives, and will. Proverbs 4:23 teaches that the issues of life flow from it. If the heart is right, life aligns. If the heart is corrupt, everything else is affected.

In Ezekiel 36:24–38, God promises restoration beginning from within. He says, “A new heart also will I give you” and “I will put my Spirit within you”. God does not begin with circumstances, position, or possessions, He begins with transformation. He removes the stony heart and gives a heart of flesh, tender, responsive, and alive to Him.

This heart is like the foundation of a building. You can decorate the walls, install beautiful windows, and paint the exterior, but if the foundation is cracked, the structure will eventually collapse. God strengthens the foundation first. When the heart is secure in Him, the entire structure of life stands firm.

God needs your heart so He can cleanse it, empower it, restore it, and dwell within it. He is not looking for perfection; He is looking for surrender. When He has your heart, obedience becomes natural, worship becomes genuine, and peace becomes steady.

COVENANT GATE HYMNALS 2; SS&S 621: I GAVE MY LIFE FOR THEE

  1. I gave My life for thee ;
    My precious blood I shed,
    That thou might’st ransomed be,
    And quickened from the dead.
I gave My life for thee :
What hast thou given for Me ?
  2. I spent long years for thee
    In weariness and woe,
    That an eternity
    Of joy thou mightest know.
I spent long years for thee :
Hast thou spent one for Me ?
  3. My Father’s home of light,
    My rainbow-circled throne,
    I left for earthly night,
    For wanderings sad and lone.
I left it all for thee :
Hast thou left aught for Me ?
  4. I suffered much for thee—-
More than thy tongue can tell,
    Of bitterest agony—-
    To rescue thee from hell.
I suffered much for thee :
What canst thou bear for Me ?
  5. “And I have brought to thee,
    Down from My home above.
    Salvation full and free,
    My pardon and My love.
Great gifts I brought to thee :
What hast thou brought to Me ?”
  6. Oh, let thy life be given,
    Thy years for Him be spent ;
    World-fetters all be riven,
    And joy with suffering blent.
Bring thou thy worthless all :
    Follow thy Saviour’s call.

Today’s Prayer:

  1. Father, search my heart and align it completely with Your will and purpose.
  2. Lord, fill my heart with Your Spirit and make it tender and responsive to You.
  3. Father, touch the hearts of my family and community, and draw them into true transformation and relationship with You.
