God Still Seeks Hearts That Are Surrendered

Text: James 4:5–9

5 Or do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us? 6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:

“God opposes the proud
but shows favor to the humble.”

7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom.

Memory Verse: 2 Chronicles 16:9 “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.”

A skilled potter does not look for perfect clay; he looks for clay that is soft and moldable. Clay that is hard cannot be shaped into anything useful. God is not searching for perfect people, He is searching for hearts that are surrendered and willing to be shaped by Him.

Throughout the Scripture, God has always looked for men and women whose hearts are fully devoted to Him. These are not people without faults or weaknesses. Rather, they are people who are humble, teachable, and willing to follow God’s direction. A surrendered heart allows God to guide, correct, and transform it.

God still seeks people after His heart today. He is not impressed by outward achievements, social status, or human strength. What matters to Him is the condition of the heart. When you give God your heart completely, you open the door for His transforming power to work in your life.

A surrendered heart leads to a steadfast relationship with God. Such a relationship grows through prayer, obedience, worship, and meditation on His Word. Over time, the heart becomes aligned with God’s will, and you begin to reflect His character more clearly.

When you give your heart to God, you invite Him to shape your life according to His purpose. He molds your desires, guides your decisions, and strengthens your faith. Just as the potter patiently shapes clay into something beautiful, God patiently forms a surrendered heart into a life that honours Him.

God is still seeking hearts that belong to Him fully. The question is not whether God is willing to receive you, the question is whether you are willing to surrender your heart to Him.

Action Plans

  • Surrender every area of your life to God in prayer and commitment.
  • Develop a consistent relationship with God through the Scripture and fellowship.
  • Allow God to correct and shape your character daily.
