TRADING AWAY YOUR SOUL? 2

TRADING AWAY YOUR SOUL? 2

Text: Matthew 18:11–14

11 For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.

12 How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray?

13 And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray.

14 Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.

TRADING AWAY YOUR SOUL? 2

Memory Verse: Matthew 18:11 “For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.”

Good morning! Today, we continue learning about how valuable your soul is.

Rare Things Are Valuable. A diamond is rare, so it is expensive. Your soul is even rarer! There is only one you in the whole world. Even if you are a twin and look like someone else, your soul is still different. No one has your fingerprints or your exact heart. No machine or scientist can create a soul. Only God can. That means your soul is special, original, and cannot be replaced. That is why we must protect our soul and help others protect theirs too.

Potentials Adds Value. A tiny seed does not occupy much space because it is small, but it has the capacity to grow into a big tree. In the same way, your soul may seem small, but it has great potential. One day, if you follow Jesus, you will become like Him. That is a beautiful future! Romans 8:29 says God planned for us to be like His Son. This means your soul is precious and full of promises, not just yours, but the souls of your friends, family, and neighbours too.

God’s Love Shows Its Worth. When something is very important, we work hard to protect it. God showed how much He cares about your soul by sending Jesus to die for it Romans 5:8. In 2 Peter 3:9 Apostle Peter says God does not want anyone to be lost. If your soul did not matter, Jesus would not have come to save it.

Losing It Is a Big Deal. If someone loses money or gets sick, it is sad. But losing a soul is far worse. Remember the Chibok girls who were kidnapped? The whole country looked for them, soldiers, helicopters, dogs, everyone tried to help. But when someone’s soul is lost, it is not going to be in any news, yet that soul is more valuable than all the money and fame in the world.

COVENANT GATE HYMNALS 2; SS&S 621: I GAVE MY LIFE FOR THEE

      1. I gave My life for thee ;
        My precious blood I shed,
        That thou might’st ransomed be,
        And quickened from the dead.
I gave My life for thee :
What hast thou given for Me ?
      2. I spent long years for thee
        In weariness and woe,
        That an eternity
        Of joy thou mightest know.
I spent long years for thee :
Hast thou spent one for Me ?

      1. My Father’s home of light,
        My rainbow-circled throne,
        I left for earthly night,
        For wanderings sad and lone.
I left it all for thee :
Hast thou left aught for Me ?
      2. I suffered much for thee—-
More than thy tongue can tell,
        Of bitterest agony—-
        To rescue thee from hell.
I suffered much for thee :
What canst thou bear for Me ?
      3. “And I have brought to thee,
        Down from My home above.
        Salvation full and free,
        My pardon and My love.
Great gifts I brought to thee :
What hast thou brought to Me ?”
      4. Oh, let thy life be given,
        Thy years for Him be spent ;
        World-fetters all be riven,
        And joy with suffering blent.
Bring thou thy worthless all :
        Follow thy Saviour’s call.
