Text: Jeremiah 33:1–4
1 Moreover the word of the Lord came unto Jeremiah the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the prison, saying,
2 Thus saith the Lord the maker thereof, the Lord that formed it, to establish it; the Lord is his name;
3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
4 For thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel, concerning the houses of this city, and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah, which are thrown down by the mounts, and by the sword;
Prayer, Two-Way Communication
- Memory Verse: Psalm 5:3 “My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee and will look up.”Prayer is a two-way channel of spiritual communication between God and man. It is not only speaking to God but also listening to Him. Many believers understand prayer as presenting requests, but true prayer includes receiving guidance, clarity, and revelation from God. Prayer creates an open line of communication where God speaks, directs, corrects, and reveals His will.
When you pray, you invite God’s involvement in your life. In response, God provides answers through inner peace, spiritual impressions, the Scripture, and divine clarity. Prayer strengthens spiritual sensitivity and aligns your heart with God’s purpose. It allows you to exchange human weakness for divine wisdom and direction.
Listening in prayer requires stillness, patience, and attentiveness. God may not always respond instantly or audibly, but He communicates in ways that brings clarity and peace. Prayer also builds relationship, trust, and spiritual confidence. The more consistent a believer is in prayer, the clearer God’s communication becomes.
Prayer is like a telephone conversation, not a voicemail. A healthy conversation requires both speaking and listening. If one person speaks continuously without listening, communication is incomplete. Effective prayer includes waiting and listening for God’s response, guidance, and instruction.
Prayer also strengthens spiritual alignment. It positions you to receive divine insight and prepare you to act according to God’s will. Through prayer, you gain strength, direction, and confidence in every season of life.
Action Plans:
- Develop a consistent daily prayer routine that includes both speaking and listening.
- Practice stillness after prayer to receive guidance.
- Record insights and act on God’s direction faithfully.
COVENANT GATE HYMNALS 109: “JOY IN ANSWERED PRAYER” By Apostle James Abache
- O Lord, we lift our hearts to Thee,
In prayer and trust, our souls set free.
With every cry, You hear our plea,
And bring us joy eternally.
Refrain:
Joy in answered prayer, O Lord,
Our hearts rejoice in one accord.
Your faithful love we do declare,
For in Your grace, we find our prayer.
- In times of need, You hear our call,
Your answer brings us peace through all.
When doubts arise, we still stand tall,
For You, O God, are our all in all.
- Though answers come in ways unknown,
We trust Your wisdom, all our own.
In every trial, we’ve brightly grown,
For through Your Word, our joy is shown.
- We thank You, Lord, for answered prayer,
Your love and mercy everywhere.
With hearts of joy, we lift each care,
In You, we find our joy so rare.
Today’s Prayer
- Father, teach me to listen carefully and recognize Your voice during prayer.
- Lord, help me develop a consistent and effective two-way communication with You.
- Holy Spirit, reveal God’s will and guide me clearly as I pray and listen.
