Text: Joel 2:25–26
25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.
26 And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.
Restoration Promise: From Desolation to Renewal
Memory Verse: Joel 2:25 “And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten…”
The message of Joel 2:25–26 is one of the most powerful promises of hope and renewal in the Scripture. It reveals a God who not only forgives but restores, a God who turns barrenness into fruitfulness and sorrow into songs of joy. After seasons of losses, dryness, or spiritual famine, He declares, “And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God.”
The locusts in Joel’s prophecy symbolize everything that has devoured the blessings and vitality of God’s people: sin, disobedience, fear, or the enemy’s attacks. Yet God, in His mercy, does not merely stop the plague; He restores the wasted years. Time, opportunities, and spiritual passion that seemed lost can be redeemed when hearts return to Him in repentance and faith.
This restoration is not partial; it is complete and overflowing. Verse 26 says, “Ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied.” In other words, where there was lack, there will now be abundance; where shame once reigned, praise will rise. God’s restoration always comes with satisfaction, not just material, but deeply spiritual, renewing joy, strength, and intimacy with Him.
The same Spirit who breathed upon the dry bones in Ezekiel 37:10 is still at work today. When the breath of God moves, lifeless hearts come alive again, churches once dry begin to flourish, and nations once desolate experience revival. Restoration begins when we repent, realign with His will, and invite His Spirit to breathe afresh upon us.
In a forest after fire, what seems dead for a season suddenly bursts with green shoots again. That’s how divine restoration works: beneath the ashes, God has planted seeds of renewal waiting for His rain of mercy. Spiritual famine may leave deep scars, but God’s grace grows beauty even from broken ground.
No matter what you have lost, years, relationships, purpose, or passion, the Lord is able to redeem it all. His promise remains unbroken: He can restore wasted seasons and fill empty hearts again.
Action Plans:
- Repent sincerely and return to God for complete restoration.
- Trust God’s promise to restore lost years and opportunities.
- Praise God in faith, expecting renewal and overflowing blessings.
COVENANT GATE HYMNALS 93: “IN THE SHADOW OF HIS MIGHT” By Apostle James Abache
- In the shadow of His might,
We will stand and fear no night;
Though the battle rages on,
We are safe, for He is strong.
God, our fortress, guide our way,
In His arms we’ll ever stay;
He will shield us from all harm,
Safe within His mighty arm.
Refrain:
Strong in battle, we will stand,
Guided by His loving hand.
In His strength, we shall not fall,
For our Savior leads us all.
- When the enemy draws near,
We will call and He will hear.
With His sword, He clears the way,
Turning night to bright array.
Through the trials, we will find
God’s own purpose, pure and kind,
He will lead us, firm and sure,
His great wisdom shall endure.
- Though the storm may rage and roar,
We are safe forevermore.
On His word, we stand secure,
With His strength, we shall endure.
Through the valley, dark and deep,
We will trust and we will keep
In His grace, our hearts will rest,
For with God, we are blessed.
- Now we rise with hearts aflame,
In His power, we’ll stake our claim;
Victory’s ours, through Christ the King,
He has conquered everything.
We shall stand, we shall not cease,
Walking in His perfect peace.
God, our fortress, strength and guide,
With our Savior, we abide.
