Signs of Spiritual Blindness: Misinterpretation of God’s Will

Signs of Spiritual Blindness: Misinterpretation of God’s Will

Bible Text: Romans 12:1–2

Therefore I urge you, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service.
Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God.

Memory Verse:

Psalm 143:10 “Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.”

A driver using an outdated map may confidently travel in wrong directions unknowingly. A spiritually blind person may misunderstand God’s will when he/she rely on personal desires instead of divine truth and guidance. Misinterpretation of God’s will is a serious sign of spiritual blindness. When spiritual understanding becomes weak, people often confuse personal desires, emotions, or worldly opinions with God’s direction. Instead of seeking God sincerely, they follow their own preferences while believing they are doing God’s will.

The Bible teaches that we must renew our minds through God’s truth to understand His perfect will correctly. A spiritually blind person may ignore biblical principles and make decisions based entirely on feelings, convenience, or human reasoning. Such individuals often misunderstand God’s purpose because spiritual discernment is lacking. Many people wrongly assume that every opportunity, success, or personal desire automatically represents God’s will. However, not every open door comes from God. Without prayer, obedience, and scriptural guidance, you can easily misinterpret situations and follow harmful paths unknowingly.

Pride, impatience, disobedience, and worldly influences also contribute to misunderstanding God’s will. When hearts become distracted from God’s presence, spiritual sensitivity weakens. As a result, you may justify wrong actions while believing they are spiritually correct.

Jesus demonstrated perfect submission to the Father’s will throughout His earthly ministry. He consistently prayed, obeyed God completely, and sought divine direction before every decision. Believers must follow His example by depending upon God rather than personal understanding alone. God desires His children to walk in clarity and spiritual understanding. Through prayer, studying Scripture, humility, and fellowship with the Holy Spirit, you gain wisdom to recognize God’s will accurately. A surrendered heart becomes more sensitive to divine guidance and less controlled by selfish desires.

Action Plans

  • Seek God sincerely through prayer before making important personal decisions.
  • Study Scripture carefully to understand God’s principles, wisdom, truth, and divine direction.
  • Avoid selfish desires influencing decisions contrary to God’s perfect will.

Covenant Gate Hymnals 124: GRACE TO BREAK THE CHAINS

By Apostle James Abache

In the darkness, I have wandered,
Bound by chains I cannot see,
A heart once pure, now heavy-laden,
Longing for a way to be free.
But You, O Lord, are full of mercy,
With Your light, You set me free.
Grace to break the chains that bind me,
Come, deliver, set me free.

Refrain:
Grace to break the chains that bind,
Lift my soul and ease my mind.
In Your love, I find release,
Come, O Lord, and give me peace.

I’ve fallen deep, I’ve lost my way,
But Your forgiveness calls my name.
You cleanse my soul, You light my path,
And guide me from my deepest shame.
No more the chains of fear or sorrow,
You hold my hand through darkest days,
Your mercy rains like gentle rivers,
And leads me to Your holy ways.
Bridge:
Oh, Your mercy knows no measure,
In Your grace, I find my treasure.
With Your strength, I’ll rise above,
Held in the arms of perfect love.

Through every trial, I’ll endure,
For in Your light, I am secure.
The chains may come, but I will stand,
For You, O Lord, are in command.
You heal my heart and make me whole,
Restoring peace to my weary soul.

Outro:
Grace to break the chains of old,
In Your mercy, I am bold.
Lord, Your love, my heart will sing,
Forever free, forever clean.

Today’s Prayer

  • Father, remove confusion completely and help me understand Your perfect will clearly.
  • Lord, guide my decisions according to Your wisdom, truth, and divine purpose faithfully.
  • Father, help my family to recognize, understand, and faithfully follow Your divine will.
