Text: Philippians 4:6-7
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
STRENGTHENING YOUR SPIRIT THROUGH DAILY QUIET TIME
Memory Verse: Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”
Your spirit is like a plant that needs water, sunlight, and good soil to grow strong, your spirit needs silence, prayer, and God’s Word. If you ignore a plant and forget to water it, it will slowly dry up. The spirit dries up if you do not take time to connect with God each day.
Daily quiet time is like giving your spirit fresh water. It is time to pause, be still, and focus on God. In your busy world, it is easy to rush from one thing to another without stopping to listen to God. But when you take just a few minutes each day to be silent and pray, your spirit becomes stronger and more peaceful.
Reading the Bible during your quiet time is feeding your spirit with healthy food. The words from the Scripture guide your heart, give you hope, and remind you of God’s promises. Even a small verse can make a big difference in how you feel and think throughout the day.
Prayer is like talking to a best friend who always listens. You can share your joys, fears, and questions with God. You do not need fancy words, just be honest. Over time, prayer helps you grow closer to God and trust Him more.
Listening is also important. After you pray and read, take a moment to sit quietly. This is when you may feel God speaking to your heart. He may not use a loud voice, but through thoughts, feelings, or peace in your heart, He helps you understand what is right and wrong.
Just like exercise makes your body stronger, daily quiet time makes your spirit stronger. It helps you become more loving, patient, and wise. You will notice you make better choices, feel calmer in hard times, and treat others kindlier.
So, make out time everyday even for 10 minutes to be with God. Find a quiet place, breathe deeply, read a verse, pray, and listen. With this practice, your spirit will grow strong and full of life, just like a plant well-cared-for reaches out to the sun.
Covenant Gate Hymnals 6; SS&S 201: “SPIRIT DIVINE, ATTEND OUR PRAYERS“
1. Spirit divine, attend our prayers,
and make this house thy home;
descend with all thy gracious powers,
come, great Spirit, come!
2. Come as the light; to us reveal
our emptiness and woe,
and lead us in those paths of life
whereon the righteous go.
3. Come as the fire and purge our hearts
like sacrificial flame;
let our whole soul an offering be
to our Redeemer’s Name.
4. Come as the dove, and spread thy wings,
the wings of peaceful love;
and let thy Church on earth become
blest as the Church above.
5. Come as the dew and sweetly bless
this consecrated hour;
may barrenness rejoice to own
thy fertilizing power.
6. Spirit divine, attend our prayers,
make a lost world thy home;
descend with all thy gracious powers;
come, great Spirit, come!
