Bible Text: 1 John 4:1–3
Beloved, don’t believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit who confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit who doesn’t confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God, and this is the spirit of the Antichrist, of whom you have heard that it comes. Now it is in the world already.
Memory Verse: John 10:27 “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.”
Spiritual communication is real, and God continues to speak to His people through channels He has ordained. From the beginning, God has revealed His will, guidance, and purpose so that you can walk in the truth and fulfil your divine assignment. However, discernment is essential because not every spiritual voice, impression, or experience originates from God. Understanding God-authorized channels will protect you from deception and ensures alignment with His truth and will. God’s authorized channels are covenant-aligned and always agree with the Scripture, glorify Christ, and produce spiritual life and righteousness.
These are God-authorized channels of communication:
The Scripture (The Written Word) Scripture is the highest authority and final standard for all spiritual communication. 2 Timothy 3:16 “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God…” God’s written Word provides doctrine, correction, discernment, and confirmation. No revelation from God should contradict the Scripture.
Jesus Christ (The Living Word) Jesus is God’s clearest and complete revelation.
Hebrews 1:2 “Has in these last days spoken to us by His Son.” Through Christ, God revealed His nature, truth, and salvation.
The Holy Spirit (The Internal Communicator) The Holy Spirit guides you into the truth and confirms God’s will. John 16:13 “He will guide you into all truth.” He communicates through inner witness, conviction, and spiritual clarity.
Prayer (Two-Way Communication) Prayer allows you to speak to God and receive His guidance. Jeremiah 33:3 – “Call to Me, and I will answer you…” Prayer strengthens relationship and spiritual sensitivity.
Dreams and Visions: God may use dreams and visions to reveal instruction or direction.
Job 33:14–16; Acts 16:9 – God communicates to guide and prepare His people.
Angels (Ministering Messengers) Angels deliver God-authorized messages and provide assistance. Hebrews 1:14 – “Ministering spirits sent forth to minister…”
Prophecy (Spirit-Inspired Communication) Prophecy edifies, exhorts, and comforts believers.
1 Corinthians 14:3 It strengthens and confirms God’s guidance.
Creation (General Revelation) Creation reveals God’s power, wisdom, and existence.
Psalm 19:1 “The heavens declare the glory of God.”
These channels always align with the Scripture, honour Christ, and lead believers into truth, peace, and spiritual growth.
Action Plans:
- Before accepting any dream, prophecy, impression, or message, ask: Does this clearly align with Scripture?
- Study verses in context, not isolation, to avoid misinterpretation.
- Revisit foundational truths about Christ, salvation, holiness, and God’s character.
COVENANT GATE HYMNALS 29: SS&S 642: WHEN WE WALK WITH THE LORD
COVENANT GATE HYMNALS 29
When we walk with the Lord in the light of his Word
What a glory he sheds on our way
While we do his good will, he abides with us still
And with all who will trust and obeyTrust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey
Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies
But his smile quickly drives it away
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh nor a tear
Can abide while we trust and obey
Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share
But our toil he doth richly repay
Not a grief nor a loss, not a frown or a cross
But is blest if we trust and obey
But we never can prove the delights of his love
Until all on the altar we lay
For the favor he shows, and the joy he bestows
Are for them who will trust and obey
Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at his feet
Or we will walk by his side in the way
What he says we will do, where he sends we will go
Never fear, only trust and obey
Prayer:
- Father, help me recognize and follow Your authorized channels of communication.
- Lord, increase my discernment to walk in truth and avoid deception.
- Holy Spirit, guide me clearly and align my life with God’s perfect will.
