THE ETERNAL POWER OF THE GOSPEL: TRIUMPH OVER DEATH

Text: 1 Corinthians 15:55–57

55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

THE ETERNAL POWER OF THE GOSPEL: TRIUMPH OVER DEATH

Memory verse Romans 8:11 “But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.”

The gospel is not just about life on earth; it is the eternal victory of God over death, hell, and the grave. Every human fear finds its root in death, the fear of loss, failure, and endings. But through the gospel, death has been defeated once and for all.

In 1 Corinthians 15:55–57, Apostle Paul said, “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? … Thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” The resurrection of Jesus is not a myth or memory it is the living proof that death no longer has the final word.

When Jesus rose, He conquered sin’s penalty and opened the gate of eternal life for all who believe. The empty tomb stands as heaven’s declaration that nothing is beyond redemption not the body, not the soul, not even time itself. This is why the gospel is not just good news, it is eternal news. It assures us that life continues beyond the grave, that our loved ones who died in Christ are not lost, and that every believer will one day rise in glory. The gospel transforms how we view life and death. What others call “the end,” faith calls “a transition.” What the world calls “loss,” heaven calls “gain.”

In John 11:25, Jesus told Martha, “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.” This same power that raised Jesus from the dead the “dunamis” of God now lives within every believer Romans 8:11. That means no situation is truly dead where Christ is present. Dead dreams can live again. Hopeless families can rise. Failing destinies can be restored.

The gospel declares victory not only for eternity but also for today. It gives courage to face life’s darkest valleys, knowing that resurrection power still speaks and still works.

Because Christ lives, we shall live also.

COVENANT GATE HYMNALS 120 “BEYOND THE DARKENED DAY” By Apostle James Abache

  1. When shadows fall and hope seems dim,
And storms of life are loud and grim,
I lift my eyes, my heart to Thee,
For in Your hands, my soul is free.

Refrain:
Beyond the darkened day, You reign,
In every trial, in every pain,
My faith in You will never cease,
For You alone bring perfect peace.

  1. When voices rise to cloud my mind,
And all I see is death behind,
I trust Your Word, You hold the key,
To life, to joy, and victory.

  1. Through every storm, You’re by my side,
I walk by faith, not by my sight,
No hopeless end, no closing door,
For You, my Savior, rise once more.

  1. In Your hands, the dead shall rise,
In Your grace, my soul shall fly,
You conquer death, You conquer fear,
And in Your love, I draw so near.

Today’s Prayer

  1. Lord Jesus, thank You for conquering death for me. Let Your resurrection power silence every fear and bring life to every dead situation in my destiny.
  2. Father, fix my eyes on eternity. Help me live daily in the power of Your resurrection and the assurance of everlasting life.
  3. Lord, let the power of the gospel reach those trapped in hopelessness and sin. Awaken them to new life in Christ Jesus.
