Text: 1 Corinthians 1:16-19
16 And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.
17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
THE GOSPEL IS THE POWER OF GOD, NOT AN IDEOLOGY
Memory verse: Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
The gospel is not an opinion, theory, or moral system it is God’s living force in motion. The Greek word “dunamis,” translated as “power,” describes dynamic, explosive energy the same power that raised Jesus from the dead as used in Romans 8:11.
Human wisdom, philosophies, and motivational systems can inspire change for a season, but only the gospel transforms from within. When the gospel is preached and believed, it does not merely inform; it transforms. It breaks addictions, heals brokenness, and reorders destinies by the same Spirit that hovered over creation.
This power does not come from eloquence or argument. Apostle Paul said, “My speech and my preaching were not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power” 1 Corinthians 2:4. That means every time the true gospel is declared, the Holy Spirit goes to work, convicting hearts, opening eyes, and producing eternal results that no human strategy could achieve.
The gospel is not an upgrade to the human condition; it is a divine replacement. It brings life where death reigned, peace where turmoil ruled, and righteousness where sin once dominated. This is why Apostle Paul boldly declared, “I am not ashamed of the gospel.” He had seen its transforming effect firsthand, on persecutors turned preachers, sinners turned saints, and the broken made whole.
So, when you share the gospel, you are not spreading an idea, you are releasing divine energy. You are announcing the power that shakes hell and populates heaven. Believe it, declare it, and watch God’s power flow through you.
COVENANT GATE HYMNALS 121 CALLED TO THE HIGHER MISSION By Apostle James Abache
- Jesus, You call us to leave all behind,
To follow Your voice and seek what we find.
From earthly pursuits to a purpose divine,
We lay down our lives to Your will, in Your time.
Refrain:
We’re called to the higher mission,
To reach the lost, to share the vision.
From the shores of earth to the heavens above,
We’ll Walk in Your purpose, in Your endless love.
- Like fishermen casting their nets on the sea,
We’re called to reach souls, to set them free.
Not for our glory, but for You alone,
We share Your salvation, Your mercy is shown.
- Through trials and struggles, we carry Your name,
Spreading Your gospel, unashamed of Your claim.
The world may reject, but Your light will shine,
In every dark place, Your love will align.
- With hearts full of faith, we go where You lead,
To serve and to give, to meet every need.
For the harvest is plenty, the workers are few,
We rise to the call, and we follow You.
- Our hands will serve, our voices will sing,
Declaring the glory of Christ, our King.
We will endure, we will never turn back,
For the mission You give us, we’ll stay on track.
- No matter the cost, we will faithfully go,
To tell of Your mercy, to make it known.
For in every heart, Your Spirit will dwell,
As we share the good news, Your love will compel.
- We’re called to the higher mission,
To reach the lost, to share the vision.
From the shores of earth to the heavens above,
We’ll walk in Your purpose, in Your endless love.
- Our hearts will burn with the fire of Your call,
To spread the Good News and answer Your call.
We’ll follow Your footsteps, with courage we’ll go,
To bring men to You, to make Your love known.
- Oh, lead us, O Savior, with Your guiding light,
We’ll follow Your mission, through day and through night.
To the higher purpose, we’ll always remain,
Forever proclaiming Your mercy and name.
Today’s Prayer
- Father, let the transforming power of Your gospel manifest in my life, breaking every chain and birthing divine change in me and through me, in Jesus’ name.
- Lord, empower me to boldly proclaim Your gospel with conviction and demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that lives may be saved and destinies restored.
- Father, let the light of the gospel shine upon every heart in darkness, bringing salvation, healing, and restoration to families and nations in Jesus’ name.
