Text: 2 Corinthians 3:1–3
1 Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you?
2 Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:
3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.
THE GOSPEL REVEALS GOD THROUGH US
Memory verse: Colossians 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
The revelation of God did not end at Calvary, it continues through every believer. The gospel is not only what we preach; it is what we live. Apostle Paul reminds us that, “You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men” In other words, your life is a message, an open letter revealing the heart of God to a watching world.
When people encounter you, they should encounter echoes of Christ, His compassion in your kindness, His truth in your words, His patience in your responses. The gospel that transformed your heart now flows through your hands and actions. God’s goal has always been to dwell among His people and reveal Himself through them. Just as Jesus said, “He who has seen Me has seen the Father,” now He calls believers to live in such a way that others can say, “I have seen God’s love through you.”
A stained-glass window on its own, looks dull and colourless. But when light shines through it, it becomes radiant and beautiful. The believer is like that window, we have no glory in ourselves, but when the light of the gospel shines through us, God’s beauty becomes visible to the world. The darker the world grows, the brighter that light should shine.
Your daily conduct, how you forgive, serve, speak, and endure becomes a living sermon. The world may never open a Bible, but it will “read” your life. Every act of grace tells a story; every word of love preaches the gospel without sound. The power of the gospel is not only in words proclaimed from pulpits but in lives that reflect heaven’s truth in earthly places.
The world may never read the Bible, but it will read you. Let the gospel in you make God visible through love when others expect hate, humility when pride is easier, and faith when fear surrounds. You are not just saved by the gospel; you are sent with it to reveal God wherever you go.
COVENANT GATE HYMNALS 20; SS&S 134: JESUS, KEEP ME NEAR THE CROSS
- Jesus, keep me near the cross,
there a precious fountain,
free to all, a healing stream,
flows from Calvary’s mountain.
Refrain
In the cross, in the cross,
be my glory ever;
’til my raptured soul shall find,
rest beyond the river.
- Near the cross, a trembling soul,
love and mercy found me;
there the bright and morning star
sheds its beams around me.
- Near the cross! O Lamb of God,
bring its scenes before me;
help me walk from day to day,
with its shadows over me.
- Near the cross I’ll watch and wait,
hoping, trusting ever,
’til I reach the golden strand,
just beyond the river.
Today’s Prayer
- Lord, let my life reflect Your character. Shine through me so that others may see Your love and truth in everything I do.
- Father, empower me to live the gospel daily in word, in action, and in compassion that my life may draw others to You.
- Lord, raise believers everywhere as living epistles. Let Your Church radiate Your glory in workplaces, homes, and nations, revealing You to the world through grace and truth.
