THE HOLY SPIRIT WORKS THROUGH THE TRUTH

THE HOLY SPIRIT WORKS THROUGH THE TRUTH

Text: Ephesians 6:10-17

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

THE HOLY SPIRIT WORKS THROUGH THE TRUTH

Memory Verse: John 16:13“But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.”

The Holy Spirit is God’s powerful presence living inside us. On the Day of Pentecost, the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit. This was a special moment when they received God’s power to help them share the good news about Jesus. But the miracle did not stop with just being filled with the Holy Spirit.

The true power came when Peter spoke to the crowd. His words were not just ordinary words; they were filled with the truth. The Holy Spirit used Peter’s message like a sharp scalpel, cutting through the hearts of the people. This made them realize their need for Jesus. The Holy Spirit helps people understand God’s Word clearly. It is through the truth of the Bible that the Spirit brings conviction and changes lives.

The Holy Spirit does not work through soft or empty words. He works best through the truth, words that come from God’s Word. When we hear the truth spoken boldly and clearly, the Holy Spirit uses it to open our eyes and hearts. The truth can sometimes be hard to hear because it shows us where we have done wrong and where we need to change. But the Holy Spirit helps us accept this truth and guides us to repentance and faith.

Peter’s message on Pentecost was simple but powerful. He spoke about Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. He explained that Jesus is the promised Saviour and Lord. Because Peter spoke God’s truth, the Holy Spirit caused about 3,000 people to be deeply convicted. They asked what to do and were baptized that day. This teaches us an important lesson: no matter how much we want to inspire or motivate people, real change happens only when the Holy Spirit works through God’s truth. Motivation can be temporary, but truth brings lasting transformation.

If you want the Holy Spirit to work in your life and the lives of others, you must speak and live by the truth of God’s Word. The Spirit will use that truth to guide, correct, and empower you. It is not about fancy speeches or smooth words, it is about the powerful, life-changing truth of Jesus Christ.

COVENANT GATE HYMNALS 28: SS&S 190: COME, HOLY SPIRIT, COME

    1. Come, Holy Spirit, Come!
      Let Thy Bright Beams Arise;
      Dispel The Sorrow From Our Minds,
      The Darkness From Our Eyes.Cheer Our Desponding Heart,
      Thou Heavenly Paraclete;
      Give Us To Lie With Humble Hope
      At Our Redeemer’s Feet.

      Convince Us Of Our Sin.
      Then Lead To Jesus’ Blood;
      And To Our Wondering View Reveal
      The Amazing Love Of God.

      Revive Our Drooping Faith,
      Our Doubts And Fears Remove,
      And Kindle In Our Breasts The Flame
      Of Never-Dying Love.

      Convince Us Of Our Sin,
      Then Lead To Jesus’ Blood,
      And To Our Wondering View Reveal
      The Mercies Of Our God.

      Show Us That Loving Man
      That Rules The Courts Of Bliss,
      The Lord Of Hosts, The Mighty God,
      The Eternal Prince Of Peace.

      ‘Tis Thine To Cleanse The Heart,
      To Sanctify The Soul,
      To Pour Fresh Life Into Each Part,
      And New-Create The Whole.

      If Thou, Celestial Dove,
      Thine Influence Withdraw,
      What Easy Victims Soon We Fall
      To Conscience, Wrath, And Law!

      No Longer Burns Our Love,
      Our Faith And Patience Fail,
      Our Sin Revives, And Death And Hell
      Our Feeble Souls Assail.

      Dwell, Therefore, In Our Hearts;
      Our Minds From Bondage Free;
      Then Shall We Know And Praise And Love
      The Father, Son, And Thee.
