Text: 2 Corinthians 4:1-7
1 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;
2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.
3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.
6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
THE POWER OF GOD’S LIGHT brings life 2
Memory Verse: John 1:4–5 “In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
The light of God is not lifeless, it is life-giving. Jesus Christ, the true Light, carries within Himself the very life of God. This life is not limited to existence but refers to zoe, the abundant, eternal, and divine quality of life. Without Christ, humanity lives in spiritual death, cut off from the Source. But when His light shines, it brings restoration, vitality, and eternal life.
Darkness represents sin, death, and hopelessness. Yet, no matter how thick the darkness appears, it can never overcome the light. Just as one candle can drive away the blackest night, the light of Christ dispels fear, breaks curses, and destroys the grip of death. His resurrection is the ultimate proof that life triumphs over death.
This life-giving light energizes the believer’s spirit, bringing clarity, strength, and direction. It revives weary souls, heals broken hearts, and breathes hope into despair. The more we walk in His light, the more alive we become spiritually, emotionally, and even physically.
Furthermore, God’s light makes His children life-bearers. Wherever they go, they bring the fragrance of Christ, restoring hope and pointing people to the Source of eternal life.
COVENANT GATE HYMNALS 27: SS&S 173 THERE’S A LIGHT THAT IS SHINING IN DARKNESS
- There’s a light that is shining in darkness,
While we wait for the dawning of day;
And it cheers us along on our journey,
Till the shadows shall vanish away !
- So we’ll wait and watch for the dawning,
The day of eternity blest;
Then take the wings of the morning,
And fly away to our rest.
- From the sure word the prophets
have spoken, [the gloom;
There is light flashing forth through
For the Scripture can never be broken,
And the King in His glory will come.
- Now we sing ‘mid the darkness and shadows, ;
And we pray and we watch for the dawn
Till the Day-star, in glory arising,
Shall betoken the coming of morn.
His Second Coming
- We are not of the night nor of darkness,
Let us walk, then, as children of day;
Our weeping shall be for a moment,
And our joy shall ne’er vanish away !
Today’s Prayer
- Lord Jesus, let Your light fill me with divine life and chase away every form of death and darkness.
- Father, breathe Your abundant life into every weary and broken part of me.
- Lord, make me a carrier of Your life-giving light to others around me.
