Text: Matthew 28:19–20
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
THE POWER OF THE GOSPEL TO MULTIPLY: The Evangelistic Power
Memory Verse: Acts 1:8 “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
The gospel is not just a message, it is a living, multiplying force. Every time it enters a heart, it carries within it the power to reproduce life in others. Like a seed planted in fertile soil, it does not remain alone; it grows, bears fruit, and spreads. The gospel never stops with one person; it is designed by God to multiply through transformed lives.
When Jesus gave the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19–20, He was not giving a mere instruction; He was releasing a multiplication principle. Every disciple was called to make more disciples, not through human ability, but by divine empowerment. That is why He added in Acts 1:8 that the Holy Spirit would give believers the power to witness effectively. Evangelism, therefore, is not a human project but a divine partnership.
If one candle is positioned to lighten other candles, the first flame does not lose its brightness, but the room grows brighter. That’s what happens when a believer shares Christ. One testimony ignites another life, and soon, what began with a single encounter becomes a movement of light across families, communities, and nations.
The early church understood this truth. Without technology or wealth, they turned the world upside down Acts 17:6 through the power of multiplied witnesses. Ordinary men and women, fishermen, servants, tentmakers, carried an extraordinary message that could not be contained.
The power of the gospel is not in eloquence but in obedience. When you share it, heaven backs your words with grace, conviction, and transformation. Every believer is a carrier of divine life, a living seed meant to reproduce Christ in others.
The more the gospel is shared, the stronger it becomes. Refusing to witness is like burying a seed that could have become a forest. But when we obey the call to go, teach, and baptize, we release the unstoppable power of multiplication, the same power that turned twelve disciples into a global church.
Lord, make me a fruitful witness. Let the fire of the gospel burn in me and spread through me to my generation.
COVENANT GATE HYMNALS 29: SS&S 642:: WHEN WE WALK WITH THE LORD
- When we walk with the Lord in the light of his Word
What a glory he sheds on our way
While we do his good will, he abides with us still
And with all who will trust and obeyTrust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey
- Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies
But his smile quickly drives it away
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh nor a tear
Can abide while we trust and obey
- Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share
But our toil he doth richly repay
Not a grief nor a loss, not a frown or a cross
But is blest if we trust and obey
- But we never can prove the delights of his love
Until all on the altar we lay
For the favor he shows, and the joy he bestows
Are for them who will trust and obey
- Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at his feet
Or we will walk by his side in the way
What he says we will do, where he sends we will go
Never fear, only trust and obey
