THE POWER OF THE GOSPEL TO UNITE AND RECONCILE

THE POWER OF THE GOSPEL TO UNITE AND RECONCILE

Text: 2 Corinthians 5:18–19

18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

THE POWER OF THE GOSPEL TO UNITE AND RECONCILE

Memory verse Colossians 1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself.

The gospel is not only God’s power to save and restore; it is His divine tool for reconciliation uniting man with God and men with one another. It breaks walls of hatred, heals divisions, and brings peace where strife once ruled.

At the heart of the gospel is reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5:18–19 declares: “And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation…” Through the cross, Jesus bridged the vast divide between sinful humanity and a holy God. His blood tore the veil, making peace possible. Every person, no matter their past or background, finds equal ground at the foot of the cross.

The gospel removes barriers of race, tribe, and class. In Ephesians 2:14–16, Apostle Paul explains that Christ “is our peace,” who broke down the wall of partition between the Jews and the Gentiles, making them one. The same message that reconciles us to God also empowers us to reconcile with one another.

When the gospel is lived out, forgiveness replaces bitterness, love silences hatred, and unity triumphs over division. It is not a political or social ideology it is a divine reality that transforms hearts and relationships from the inside out.

The gospel is a bridge built over a raging river of conflict. Humanity stood on one side, God on the other. No religion, wisdom, or moral code could span that distance, only the cross did. And now, through that same bridge, broken relationships can be healed.

The early church demonstrated this power vividly. Jews and Gentiles, rich and poor, masters and servants worshipped side by side. What society divided, Christ united. Even today, when the gospel is truly preached, reconciliation becomes visible, in homes, churches, communities, and nations.

The world does not just need peace talks; it needs the Prince of Peace. And His gospel still carries the power to unite hearts and rebuild human fellowship in love.

COVENANT GATE HYMNALS 114: PRINCE OF PEACE By Apostle James Abache

    1. O Prince of Peace, we come to Thee,

Our hearts in turmoil, set free,

Thy love, a balm for every soul,

Thy peace, it makes the broken whole.

    Refrain:

Prince of Peace, our hearts embrace,

Your gentle touch, Your boundless grace,

In You alone our hope is found,

Your peace, it reigns, in hearts unbound.

    1. Through every storm, You are our guide,

With You, we walk, no fear, no pride,

Your peace that calms the raging sea,

    Abides in us, so faithfully.

    1. You reconciled, through cross and grace,

With every heart, You made a place,

We’re called to live in love and peace,

Our Prince of Peace, Your reign won’t cease.

    Outro

O Prince of Peace, we lift our song,

In Your peace, we all belong.
