THE POWER TO ENDURE AND SERVE

A Fruitful Heart

THE POWER TO ENDURE AND SERVE

Text: 2 Corinthians 4:7–10

7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;

9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;

10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.

THE POWER TO ENDURE AND SERVE

Memory verse: John 15:16 “Ye have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in My name, He may give it you.”

The gospel is not only the power that saves; it is the power that sustains and sends. God never preserves anyone for idleness; He preserves us for a purpose. Acts 1:8 “You shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you, and you shall be witnesses unto Me.” The same Spirit who keeps you from falling also empowers you to rise and serve. Preservation without service is not complete, endurance finds its full meaning in purpose.

The Christian walk is not without trials. But the gospel gives us the strength to endure hardship without losing faith, and to serve faithfully despite opposition. Apostle Paul wrote, “We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted but not forsaken; cast down but not destroyed.” Endurance is not the absence of pain; it is the presence of divine power that keeps you standing when life tries to break you.

A seed is preserved from decay not so it can remain buried forever, but so it can bring forth fruit. God preserves you because you carry kingdom potential. The grace that keeps you from falling is the same grace that equips you to serve, to influence, to impact, and to reproduce the life of Christ in others. Preservation without fruitfulness is like a seed locked in a jar, safe but barren.

To endure is to stay steadfast under pressure; to serve is to turn that endurance into fruit. Apostle Paul said in Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” This strength is not merely for survival, but for contribution, for being the hands and voice of Christ in your generation. The gospel transforms endurance into evidence and converts preservation into productivity.

So, when the road is hard and your strength feels small, remember God did not save you to sit; He saved you to shine. Every difficulty you overcome becomes a testimony that inspires others to believe.

COVENANT GATE HYMNALS 97: “GUIDE US, LORD, IN SERVICE TRUE” By Apostle James Abache

  1. Guide us, Lord, in service true,
As we lead and follow You,
In Your wisdom, we shall grow,
And Your love, we’ll always show.
With our hands, we’ll serve Your grace,
And in our hearts, Your love embrace,
For the church, Your work we’ll do,
In the strength You give anew.

Refrain:
Guide us, Lord, in every plan,
As we seek to follow Your command,
In leadership, we humbly stand,
Empowered by Your holy hand.
With wisdom, love, and unity,
We’ll serve Your church in harmony,
Guide us, Lord, in service true,
And lead us ever close to You.

  1. In the tasks we’re called to bear,
Let us always seek Your care,
To shepherd hearts with gentle grace,
And lead with truth in every place.
May our words be filled with light,
Bringing hope and strength to fight,
For the kingdom’s work is near,
And in You, we have no fear.

  1. As stewards of the gifts You give,
In Your truth, we long to live,
With each decision, prayer, and deed,
Let us follow Your true lead.
For the church is not our own,
But a place where You are shown,
    Through each leader, every heart,
In Your love, we take our part.

Today’s Prayer

  1. Lord, empower me to endure with joy. Let every season of testing refine, not weaken me. Make me fruitful in every assignment You have given to me.
  2. Father, fill me afresh with Your Spirit. Preserve me from failure and empower me for faithful service that glorifies Your name.
  3. Lord, strengthen every weary servant of the gospel. Revive their zeal, renew their strength, and let their lives continue to bear enduring fruit for Your kingdom in Jesus’ name. Amen.
